I think the way how the secondary item combos will take place would be somethin' like this.
A Hunting Rifle = Smg sidearm (If smg sidearm is true) - Melee weapon
A Shotgun = Smg sidearm - Melee weapon
A Assault rifle = Magnum + Melee (Screw smg combo, use the big guns.)
A Smg= Magnum + Melee (Any full auto weapons run out of ammo fast, keep a melee)

But of course, any one can change these combos in game, but I find it more practical for the smg's to be with the semi/single shot weapons in case of slow reloads and big swarms.
Magnums for those guys that have full auto fire, but also a ammo chewing main.
Gotta balance out full auto with firepower.

I guess primary weap sidearms would be ok
Maybe a 30 shot smg
