Bought it today. In all honesty... it's in my top 5 favorite games of all time so far. And I'm only on the second mission! THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS TO DO, JESUS CHRIST! Damn I love this game.

I hope it's KoTOR 3.
Honestly, BioWare is too good at making RPG's. They should stop before they make everyone implode. Which is a likely scenario upon playing KoTOR 3.

Man, I'd love to try it out, but I'd much rather settle for KOTOR 3. Oh GOD that would be amazing.... No....
The fighting system of Star wars: Jedi Academy mixed with how Kotor 3 should be would be the most amazing thing ever.

I was surprised at the faults in Mass Effect that the 1UP show covered.
150 items max, and no way to sort them?
Ouch.

Played for a few hours. Besides some inconsistent frame rate, texture popping, yadada (small stuff): it seems to be a contender for GoTY.
KoTOR III eh? Don't expect it anytime soon, sadly.

Why would a completely new franchise be anything like one the created before? I'd rather it not be Kotor 3. I'm ready for something new, which is what I got!

KotOR is an amazing game; Hell I don't even like Star Wars movies that much!
To each and his own. The combat in KotOR is odd at first, but it gets fun as manage it.
And the dialog arcs in all Bioware games really seals the deal for me. Shepard talks! Woot!

No, not saying I wouldn't like Kotor 3. Not at all, I own and have beat both of them. The fact is.. I'd rather have what this game is than another Kotor right now. I love them both!

We're on a roll with these agreements.
What is KotOR? :)
You on the other hard...
I was surprised too at the faults of Mass Effect, upon reading up on the reviews there seem to be game problems as well as technical issues.

Apparantly some of the game desigh is a down point according to PCZone:
"The problems that do arise are largely a result of poor design decisions. The more stupid enemies, such as the Husks (a fairly common foe), simply charge at you, not showing off the rudimentary shooting in the best light. Since bullets aren't a worry, with only an overheat meter to keep tabs on, you can defeat large swathes of these by backing off and holding fire, which is about as exciting as helping Alan Shearer strip the wallpaper from his spare bedroom.
But some truly duff level designs in places accentuate this problem. There are more than a few occasions where success is a matter of trial and error - seeking out the 'correct' place to hide and picking the opposition off one by one. And we can't skip onto the next point without mentioning the dreadful section that occurs in the underground tunnels of Feros - wave upon wave of freaks running towards you down a thin, dark corridor? Followed by the exact same attack wave in an identical corridor immediately afterwards? And then another two times after that? Imagine trying to tackle a Flood invasion with Ghost Recon's handling, and you're halfway there. It's misguided level design at best, and occurrences like this turn up far too often to simply dismiss them as a High Charity-esque anomaly. "
But they still gave it 9.0 outta 10!

wow that makes it sound so much worse than it really is....I just played the feros last night, it was fun!!! this game is SUPER ADDICTING and HELLA FUN!....everything is perfect IMO exept that it takes a couple seconds in big environments to load all the textures....oh and at the beginning of the game no matter if it was on a PC or not, the sniper rifle is so hard to aim it swings all over the place! but after u gain levels it's pretty good now......and using the LAND ROVER IS SO FUNNNNN!!!!!! even if there wasn't anything on the planet, it's still like a fun mini game to bounce around terrain and use the jump jets to mess around.

My friend let me borrow this game, I gotta say it's super addicting. Much like Kotor though, the real flaw I believe is that I won't want to play it again XD I will though, so I can chose a different class and get those bio achievements. Just got done with Feros I believe, Noveria is next since I've already found that chick. God, I don't know any of their names XD

I know you can change your characters history and gender, but you can change their appearance right? Right?!
Etheallmighty
11-25-2007, 06:58 PM
yeah you can change their appearance....but one thing is that after you beat the main story line, it all ends and you have to restart, so I'm beating all the side quests first b4 that (after feros)....but after allready doing a bunch of the side quests, although the planets and what's on em are varied a lot, almost all of the underground bases you find on them have pretty much the same layout.
but super addicting.....which is the good thing

Beat the game today, only 14 hours. I thought it was a bit short which kinda sucked, but that's cuz I didn't do any of the side missions. Amazing game though, starting another run through right away.

Mass Effect is amazing. I got hooked instantly. The only thing that made me mad was the framerate sometimes. It slowed down when too much was on screen.

yeah snake I've only done sidequests, and just now did noveria (not sure how close to the end) but i'm at about 22 hours....and I still have a load of sidequests piling up, not to mention all the ones about finding metals, gasses, matriarchs writings,etc...

Yeah... side quests please. I'm at 37 hours. :/

Most of the sidequests seemed lame so I didn't really bother. Main storyline compelled me more, and so did the thought of hot alien sex XD

Well, I'm level 38 and I beat it with 37 hours.. now the stuff I missed I can go through again with the same character. (God I love that system..)
Some of the quests are lame, but most of them were pretty sweet. I had fun!
