How hard will L4D be?

so i have been thinking about how hard this game will be to play, and basicly i dont think even no the hardest difficulty it will hard enough. not that i am awesome on games or anything like that, i am just one of few that prefer a real challenge to an easy game with a rank system, for example the coop missions of Armed Assault are really hard to finish. but on Rainbow 6 u can play a Terorist Hunt on the same level a million times and get the hang of it on the first few then never get it wrong again.

so what do you guys n gals think? i think the whole geting used to a level thing wasnt worth bringing up coz of the Director. that will be amazing. and it will all change due to how well the game is going for you, and i also think TRS are all about making games for ppl who take it seriusly and will make it solid, the reason for me posting this is because at this point, from all i have seen about the game, the only thing i can see goin tits up is making it to easy, if there are hundreds and hundreds of infected coming at u and u end up not being freaked out after a few times thru the game it would be harsh.

any thoughts?

well supposedly on the hardest difficulty (out of 4?) it will take about 2-3 hits from a regular infected to take you down. so if you think it will be easy, youre sadly mistaken :)

not too mention over time people will become very good at being boss infected (as goes with any game, eventually people learn all the tricks and become masters), then you will have some real problems to worry about.

i can just imagine scenarios where the smoker hangs someone. boomer pukes on those coming to help and so then youve got at least half your gang (prolly more) either blind or strung up by the neck with about 80 infected going bonkers. then the hunters come flying in and start knocking people down or pinning them to the ground. hell maybe even a tank will come barreling in.

point is, the game is going to be hard. real fucking hard. the only reason it would be easy is if the ppl playing as boss infected suck balls and never do anything to the survivors.

read all the previews, read all the interviews, watch all the videos and you'll never hear or see any person complain that it is too easy or not be shitting their pants as they play. and as far as we know, all those videos have been on easy with either a dev telling them what to do or AI playing as boss infected.

According to an interview, even on normal difficulty, the DEVELOPERS don't always make it to the end. I imagine on hard it must be nightmarishly difficult.

i pretty much assume that everyone on this forum does the exact same thing

also since it is a source game, i bet there will be some mods out that will make it even harder for those of you that enjoy failing ;)

i can already imagine there being some mods that reduce the amount of ammo and health packs you can get

The dev's have said that on normal they only make it like a third of the time (Squerl or frog yeah I'm right? Remember reading it in one of your reviews)

like I said in my review after I played it...you think it's goin easy and yu think ur tough shit and ur whole team is fine....until one room can ruin it all in seconds....this game will be hard (especially on hard against people who know what their doing)

Well based on the videos I watched it doesn't look that hard. But its likely they are just playing on easy or normal. An its still in development so there is hope it will get better. Somehow im thinking though that once this is out your going to see human controlled infected players refusing to play unless its set to hard. Cause aside from the tank an smoker it looks like things are stacked against them right now.

this is all good news to me, i had read and heard things about the game being hard to beat, and i kno it would be alot harder with a full 4 ppl as the boss infected but i will be playing most of the time with 2 to 4 ppl all on the survivers side fighting the AI boss's, will that still be uba hard to get thru do ya think?

Well, they did create the AI for CS.. which was amazing for what it is. So I'd imagine that the AI for L4D will be pretty decent indeed!

I think its balanced quite nicely. boomers, hunters, and smokers arent meant to duke it out with the survivors, only the tank is.

It was said in some interview I read some time ago: The people who develop the game, the people who spend all their time playing and testing it. Those guys, only make it through 1/4 of the times, on the regular difficulty level.
