If this games sucks...

I've been watching the progress of this game since around the beginning of this year (or so it seems -- I don't remember the exact date I first heard of it) and have wanted to play it from the moment I saw the first 1up video. Like a zombie infection in my brain, it has pervaded my thoughts and seems to be all I can think about anymore.

I don't normally foam at the mouth for an upcoming game since the hype always ends up writing cheques the games can't cash. That's one thing that I've appreciated the most about following the progress of this game: the low amount of hype that precedes it. TSR has let the game speak for itself which is a bold thing to do as far as marketing goes, but definitely a sign that they are totally confident in their product. If a lot of games were advertised this way, video game sales would be a lot lower.

I've never been in the habit of buying video games based on any hype or advertisements, but my old roommate would jump at whatever was shiny or sparkly on the picture-radio. As such, we ended up with a lot of shitty console games. The best ones he owned were the ones friends recommended, and everything else was crap. I guess that's sort of what TSR has been doing: letting people play it and then go, "Well? Were we right or were we right? Eh? Eh?!"

I am totally confident that this game will rule. Whenever I watched a video or read an article, I would always think to myself, "Finally, someone's done it right!" Some of my friends have complained that it's not really a zombie game because, A) the Infected aren't actually undead, and B) when you get bitten/punched/curb-stomped by one, you don't turn into one yourself. Semantics! SEMANTICS!!

I really thought Dead Rising was going to do it. I wanted them to have done it. Even when I played the game and realized they had somehow managed to screw it up, I tried really hard to enjoy it. But in the end, it had once again fallen short of my expectations.

My expectations for a good zombie game aren't even high! It seems to me that the concept is really, really simple! It's like an equation: survivors + masses of zombies + cool weapons and environment = WIN. You'll notice that elements we find in other games like Story, Engaging Character Development, Et Cetera don't even have to be a part of it! And yet, somehow, through the ages and history of video game development, the mark has been missed over and over...

... until, hopefully, now.

So, if this game sucks, I will be forced to unleash this zombie virus I've been working on for the past 15 years to create a real zombie apocalypse just to show people what it should be like!

yeah, i think alot of dissopintment comes from missconceptions about games, i think i have seen enough to kno what to expect, for example i have watched alot of vids about L4D and im pretty sure in most of the important ways it wont let me down. and TRS and M.Booth said its really fun so even if its not what you expect it to be it should at least be really fun to play

i can see from the gameplay vids the run speeds fine, and i see what u mean about adding too much arcady style stuff but, they know what they're doing and they know how exited ppl are about the game, so i doubt they would ruin it really.

I reckon they've got loaaadddss done now;)

Turtle Rock Studios aka "TSR" will not burn down or be destroyed. In fact, they will sell more copies than halo 3 in the third week and continue to sell massive quantities for long periods of time. Why the third week? It would take two weeks for word-of-mouth to overhype the game to excessive amounts. By then, everyone will know what left 4 dead is since everyone will talk about it!

Also, there's the fact that it'll pop up in steam update news for every single steam member, they'll see the gameplay videos, and they'll buy it. Mostly the steam crowd will get it.

That reminds me...
if we're all getting Crysis and COD4 and UT3(YAY!!!) how are we suppose to afford Left 4 Dead when it comes out? Save your money, you have bills, kids(maybe), and Left 4 Dead to pay for.

Well, in all fairness it was the best game I've played on the 360.

(Psst- I don't own a 360, it is also the only game I've played on the 360.)

Anyway, it was just too consoley. Thumbsticks are not my friends. Locking on/off is clumsy.

I did beat it, and I liked the story, but
