Probably Super Mario, but in my honest opinion... Orange Box... no matter what game I get, I always find myself going back to TF2... And I have all those games except Crysis, Super Mario and Metroid Prime 3.

Galaxy was really good, Orange Box was good, Bioshock was amazing and the most original I think on the list, and I haven't played Mass Effect yet to properly judge..

Meh, the whole slew of vehicles and new game mode in UT3 was enough for me... Both Halo and UT3 added a lot of new crap, which goes pretty much unnoticed because the whole run, shoot and dodge formula is still pretty much the same.

Yeah Im a 360 fanboy, and I am SICK of Halo 3. It was completely kick ass for about a month and a half, but now I see no reason to take it out of its case. I think the winner should really be Mass Effect or Bioshock. When I played Bioshock, I didn't do homework or much of anything until I beat the game. My world didn't exist for that time frame. It is truly one of the most unique games I've ever played, and easily beats out most of the game. I don't think there were any parts where I felt like taking a break. It was just action non stop. Amazing.

Mass Effect is another game that should beat most of those. The story is completely awesome, the combat really kicks ass(though Im mad the way they portrayed it at E3 isnt exactly what the final product was like, because you cant change your character to another one to use their abilities, you can only command them), the dialogue is obviously where this game stands out, and its apparent why. This game is just completely awesomo to a factor of 20000000000000000000. I don't think Halo 3 should win at all.

GoTY - Bioshock. Nothing else out there comes remotely close in terms of general plot, storyline & atmosphere!!!

Mass Effect was excellent - although I thought the main story was a little on the short side.

Halo 3 - nothing new that I hadn't seen before - hype & marketing over substance.

CoD 4 - very enjoyable, but just another shooter at end of the day.

You mean like a little something called GMod, which has been out for years. As for SC being generic... pfft, it was one of the first... It has to be, they cant change the whole game to make it un-generic. It still a great game that will probably sell millions, and if its anything like SC1 and WC3, it'll have plenty of user content.

I heard GTA4 wont have any wacky vehicles like SA, so planes... and other stuff. Also heard its got a gay shooting system, like Gears of War wall hugging and what not. Sounds like it would really slow down the pace of the game, and make it more serious where it shouldn't at all be.

-Halo 3 is good, But i got tired of it pretty quick.

-TF2 i diddnt get into... theres like no one playing it on xbox live anyway so mabye thats why.

- (one that hasnt been mentioned) The Darkness was fucking fantiastic! well i thought so, others might disagree.

But Goty for me is Call of duty 4... Its the Funest most fast paced shooter out there, even tho it has its bugs (Last night i was in signle player and 3 members of my team walked through the floor and wall twice :S) its great :D.

Yeah Halo3 bashing is needless. It was not the best game for sure. But it was and is really fun. It had a lot of new angles (for Halo), like the whole Gmod/forge thing. Gmod is way better than forge, but the addition of it makes the game so much better. And as for Bioshock, ugh... It was fun, I will admit. But in all truth, plot wasn't great, graphics were good (I don't say great as I honestly expected them to be like 10x better w/ all the hype), and there was nil replay value. It was fun, but as far as I am concerned, any game that wins GotY needs to be either incredibly replayable or have great multiplayer. That is why out of all the games I have played on that list, which is more than half, CoD4 wins, hands down. Great storyline, good replayability, and amazingly endlessly fun multiplayer. The only game I think might be better is Mass Effect, which I have yet to play.


EDIT: OMG forgot Orange box!!! Certanly not GotY, but maybe a close 3rd, with the rankings as follows

In ut2004 they have red orchestra realism, frag ops modern realism, killing floor survival horror, gears of ut(with the entire cover system), UnWheel racing and random car stunts, Muralis Devil May Cry style fighting and shooting, and the original UT2004 which is itself, awesome.

Now, just imagine what ut3 will be like with all those mods? Better graphics and all.

The soldier AI can be pretty damn crafty on Delta. The gameplay feels alot like FarCry, but the suit adds alot to it. (Throwing bad guys is fun also). But saying it has "no" good gameplay is kinda retarded, because there is some.

Oh, and Halo 3 shouldn't even be on the Game of the Year list... neither should God of War 2... Both of those games are just sequels that did nothing to deserve a game of the year award..

I have played each of the Halo games a little and I must say I wasn't impressed. I don't understand why it gets so much praise. I doesn't do anything really new (except possibly for this forge mode thing I have heard about, but not seen).
As for Crysis, it is good, but has some REALLY cheesy dialogue! I thought once you got out of the alien space ship the game got quite boring... Even in the ship, it wasn't that great. It was just cool being in zero gravity...
I thought Bioshock was great, but again not everything it was hyped up to be (but then again, games rarely live up to hype... But I think L4D will! :D Can't wait!).
Few games have matched the atmosphere of Bioshock for me though (I never played System Shock 2, but I really want to...). And the twist in the story really got me! I thought I had it figured out at the time.. But no.
I have barely played COD4 so I can't really comment on that, but I have seen it being played a bit. Looked pretty good. But I'm guessing multiplayer is the best bit?

Edit: If the orange box counted as 1 game, it should win the game of the year, but that would be unfair... I say either Bioshock or... I dunno, something else... Just not Halo 3 or Crysis!
