This is one of the most stupidly simple cures for a problem with CoD4!
I could play the SP without a prob, immediatley I tried to play MP is just crashed straight away. So removed Xfire (as per suggestion) ............. didn't work.
Renamed a sound file in the game (as per suggestion) ................ didn't work.
Uninstalled Realtek sound drivers and used default Windows drivers ............. didn't work.
Plugged in a microphone (as per the last suggestion I found in a tucked away fan forum) ................. bloody worked!!!!!!! That was all it needed!! A MIC!!!!!!! COME ON!!!!
To say I was annoyed would be an understatement as I don't use TS or the ingame comm chat. That has got to be one of the dumbest bugs I have ever known.
