A Simple question

Hello my gf and I are new to the game. We just purchased it and cannot wait for 2 to come out. I have a question we share one xbox and we have live. How do we both play a campaign using the split screen? We already played the four games in the off line mode, but we want to continue playing the rest of the stories. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When you are at the main menu, it says in the bottom corner to press start for the second player to join in. Then you just join into a game and you should be playing split screen.
