best part 2 me:(brief as possible as to not spoil)
this part was SO FREAKING SUSPENSFUL!!!
-slowly dragging back to the car with dogs waiting to get past the sunlight.
great acting by the Smithinator

It wasn't randomly. The scene just starts off with him exercising. I guess it was to show what he does on a daily basis.

***SPOILERS, but you shouldn't be in a thread about a movie that you haven't seen if you don't want it to be ruined duh!!***
I fucking loved this movie. Every bit (I actually liked the ending) of it was incredible. The intesity when he was crawling back to his car nearly killed me... I gripped my chair soo hard.. And the dog thing.. made me sad =( But the movie did an excellent job portraying Neville as the last man, struggling to maintain his sanity.
So yeah... 28 Days Later was good, 28 Weeks Later was good too... this one tops them both imo. (all are in the Fast-Running Zombie-Like Things category of course)

I just saw it... have to say though, cold air stopping a virus? It didn't even look that cold there. I mean, they said mountain...
Anyway, wouldn't that mean everyone in the Arctic circle is alive, and half of Canada.
Also, the pilot in the blue helicopter is a fucking moron... Like what the fuck was that?
I don't like the deviation from the novel that turned the Infected into near mindless savages. They 'hinted' at their sentience but really, it wasn't enough. At most it made the movie seem more awkward. Like:
"I'm pissed you stole my zombie chick, now even though you have a cure and all, and shes in that room with you, ima still be a masochist, smash my head around and try to kill you. And moreso, you have a grenade!!!"

Comparisons to the novel will always hurt the movie. I always think of them as two separate attempts at a similar story.

As the foremost Vermonter here, who has seen the movie, the whole "Oh, look at us, Bethel Vermont and our big concrete walls! And the cold will stop the virus in the mountains!", was wrong and dumb. As far as temperature, as it wasn't winter in that movie, Vermont really isn't cold except in the winter. I live in Burlington VT, about 60 miles north of Bethel, and it's hit 104 degrees before. Also, that was in no way Bethel. Also, Bethel is not in the mountains. A side note. If the zombies can climb Will Smiths like 5 story house, how is a 18 foot concrete wall going to even slow them? And another thing. How did Anna and Ethan get from NYC, all bridges and tunnels kaput, to Bethel? And another thing, That zombie leader dude is way to resilient. And another thing, how is like 50mL of cure that is exclusively from Neville's (blow'd up) body going to save them if they can't reproduce it? And another thing, why the fuck would the military go ahead and destroy the bridges and freak out the pilots instead of waiting for 'em? And how does the zombie leader move Fred like 40 blocks, set up a snare trap rigged to a taxi hanging over a ledge to get Will? I suppose dontleave is right about them not really being sentient in the movie, but if they aren't how in gods name do they do that? And how do you break an inch of bullet proof glass with your forehead? And why Bethel? And What retarded doctor makes a cure for cancer that magically mutates into a disease that turns people into bald decaying UV avoiding zombie people? And why are dogs not immune to the contact strain but the airborne strain? And what about lions and deer? Are they immune? And how did Will capture so many damn squirrels? And oh yeah, if this shit does happen, Vermont wins ftw w00t. Also, great movie, loved it.

Just saw the movie a couple hours ago... It was brilliant.
Frank's head does move as he is passing by. That was freaky. And when he would go into the DVD stores, I would always expect the models to be the infected. Especially the cashier guy. =D
And to me, I don't really care if movies don't follow the book/game. As long is the movie is good, that is good enough for me.

OK!
I just saw it.
I thought it was great, and it's probably as close to L4D as movies are going to come.
BUT!
I agree with what Gorgoth said in his fat-ass paragraph. The part about the jets blowing up the bridges made me mad too. Implosions go out of style or something?
As far as guns go, Neville really sucked.
*He was inaccurate as hell.
*He didn't seem to take any guns on his suicide run.
*He has so many in his closet, but can't even tape two mags together for fast reloads?
He seemed over-prepared, and then you find that all his fortifications can be overrun in mere seconds. Silly. Not even an emergency knockout gas button for the lab?
For many of the movie's important events, I got the same feeling when I watched a stealth bomber shoot down Air Force One with air-to-air missles in the TV series 24.
DX
I could almost believe that it was Neville's own trap, but if it was... He was really losing it.
If I'm supposed to accept the sentient nature of the 'dark seekers' I think I'll puke. Seriously. If they can set traps, why not just snipe neville with the guns he leaves lying around? Sentient and hunter/tank-like? C'mon!
=P
All in all, good movie. Some things were off though.

Come to think of it, I think Frank was Neville's trap, or atleast the trap itself. (Maybe the Zombie moved the mannequin) I mostly think this because the zombies although somewhat intelligent are retarded. I mean, the end of the movie pretty much proves that for 10 minutes.
If I'm supposed to accept the sentient nature of the 'dark seekers' I think I'll puke. Seriously. If they can set traps, why not just snipe neville with the guns he leaves lying around? Sentient and hunter/tank-like? C'mon!

I know that they are not zombies, but as far as the movie goes, portraying them as stupid mindless zombie like thingies, they can't set up traps. In the books, which I have not read, I believe, based on your comment, that they are more sentient and it does a better job of portraying that.

I've seen the original "last man on Earth" and in that one I think he is killed by (not the zombies, but other survivor people) in a church....
I just bought the "omega man" with Charleston Heston, and they are not even close to zombies/vampires, but they are hippy looking cult sort of people. they can talk and organize and in the end he gets speared in front of his house in a big fountain.
Those infected have black......well just think of those people from monty python and the holy grail, who hit themselves in the head with boards.but with sunglasses and long hair :)

Hmm well I have not read the book or seen the other movies. An so far it sounds like the ending from this movie is the one I prefer. Since its just ironic that he finally gets the cure just in time to redeem himself but he has to die so the dark stalker things will leave the other two alone. Or at least that was my interpretation of it being the dark stalkers didn't like him in particular. You could say it was because he had kidnapped lots of them for his experiments. But you could also view them as being like his demons he had to face for his part in making the virus. I liked how for a while there we were not sure if the guy was sane or not.
Just remember that usually whichever version of the story you read or viewed first is probably the one you will prefer. I mean I still prefer the ending from the lord of the ring books where the shire gets attacked but I do understand the movie ending works better for the movies.

If you look closely, when he spots Fred, Fred's head moves slightly to the left, quite slowly. Hard to notice. I saw it at the cinema and thought maybe the infected had realised wearing a hoody would protect them from the sunlight... But I was wrong... Didn't see that trap coming though! I thought i am legend was a massive FLOP, the amount of money that was spent on it was obsured, i just thought there wasnt much that stuck out in the film, the vampires wernt in it that much ffs, too much effort was put into the sense of isolation and desperation of wills character(that wasnt even that impressive) and i was left thinking, that was disappointing, IMO 30 days of night is a far better vampire film.
