View Full Version : Christmas
What are you getting for christmas?
I wasn't going to anything, but then I thought if I needed anything for Left 4 Dead; and I did. So I decided to get myself a headset this Christmas (hope theirs voip).
So what are you planning on getting for Christmas? Are you going to get somtheing for Left 4 Dead, like new hardwear; or plan on getting something you been craven to get.

I'm sure my girlfriend/parents will be getting me various video games I may have mentioned like the new Zelda on the DS or the new Trauma Center. Possibly Guitar Hero 3...
I did tell them I wanted some sort of toy and used my brother to drop hints about a little RC helicopter. Christmas isn't Christmas without a toy.

Money.
Christmas is not about getting money to buy things you NEED. It's all about love for your neighbour. Expressing it through exchanges of material things which brings us joy - Personal Presents - not hard cash. Oh, and Jebus too...

I prefered christmas when I was a kid, and all you'd do is tell everyone the presents you want, and with luck you'd get some of them.
Now, its me who has to do all the buying, and don't recieve a fraction of what i used to get when i was young :(
boo hoo.

Pfft, real drums FTW. The only good thing about those fake ones are that they aren't noisy, which means you can play whenever you want, but seriously.. Where's the feeling? Nothing beats playing on a real drumset, trust me, I know.

Giving someone money is the most thoughtfull thing you could do on Christmas, think about it. You may not even realize.

In general, maybe. I'm thinking of a intimate family situation. The spirit of christmas is (to me) about family etc. So if my parents gave me money I would think it was kind of an anonymous gesture. Am I making any sense? :) Anyway, it's not like i wouldn't be able to spend the money :P

Mass Effect, a gig of RAM, Mythubusters on DVD, maybe a new processor or video card, or some extraneous part.

Plankie, as a drummer of 9 years I know how an acoustic kit feels. After years of being on a snare line and playing out at clubs, as well as too many rock concerts, I've had a noticeable impact on my hearing. As such, I haven't played in months. This new set will allow me to practice and work up my chops again without risking my hearing or disturbing other people.
Also, Roland's new mesh heads really replicate the physical feel of the drum. Everyone talks about how electronic drums don't come close to acoustic but they never mention the advantages of the electronic set, which include switching sounds on the fly, ease of practice, midi work, etc.
And we're getting close to really replicating the acoustic feel, its just really expensive right now. Check out Rolands flagship line right now and watch how the tone varies as you move around the head, the snare buzzes with the pitch of the toms, and the hats respond like a real hat.

check out the NAMM booth demo way down towards the bottom of the video list.
Oh, also... not having to deal with micing a drumset while recording FTW!

I play piano, not that it's acoustic at all...
I already have a headset from ps2 socom (1st one), so I use that and it works fine.
This means I can spam piano music into all of your headphones once you get them! XD

I'm going too Florida tomorrow so my Dad's side of the family spent Christmas at home today. I already got a new snowboard with everything with it (bindings, boots, helmet, etc.) and was completely in shock when I found out I got a Wii which I didn't even ask for lol. Basically, just tell everyone what your going/got for Christmas when the time comes.
