The reason it's taking so long is because they would get so far in development, then a new engine and thus a new standard in gaming would come out and they would start the game over from scratch. So it's not that DNF that you see in that teaser has taken 11 years. That's probable the fourth attempt at making the game.

See that's the problem exactly. People expect it to be Legendary but I highly doubt it will be that good(By good, I mean jizz multiple times before collapsing into a seizure). They've delayed it for too long and they keep getting to the breaking point of how well the game will look overall.

I think this would be better if it is NOT released.

Reason 1: It's funnier if it continues to be just a series of screenshots and videos with no actual release.
Reason 2: It will never ever live up to the hype.
Reason 3: In the most recent trailer, it actually looks quite bad.
Reason 4: Game narratives have improved beyond what Duke Nukem and his voice actor Jon St. John can offer.
Reason 5: On a comedic level, Duke Nukem was fresh and funny in 1996. I just don't find over-the-top self-aware machismo funny any more.

But that's not the only thing wrong with it. The level designs are boxed in as hell, and thats the exact opposite of what you want in a Duke game. Duke games are supposed to be huge levels, ridiculous weapons, and blowing shit up. From the demo, the game wasn't that funny, it played slowly (whats with the two weapon limit Gearbox?), and the level design was utter shite. Of course I know i'm not speaking for the full product, but hell it is a demo, and they should be trying to get customers with it. If you want to go back and play a good modern-ish game with the sensibilities of 90's FPS design, I recommend the serious sam HD remakes on steam.

EVERYTHING is more fun with friends. In a group you and your friends can turn every shit into a fun experience, but that doesn't mean that shit isn't shit anymore. You don't have fun based on the quality of the product, but based on the people you play it with.

Actually, I didn't really expect any good from that game apart from the jokes. The jokes were ok, graphics were meh (ooooh I'm a loser now) and gameplay was sheer dissapointing.

Well, I think DNF is kind off missing the point. I mean, yeah, Duke 3D was sorta like this, but for me a lot of the humor came from the fact that the jokes were just silly at times, and the were just complementing the crazy gameplay. I feel like they're trying to do it the other way around this time, with not-so-great results.

I think it would be fair to assume 3D Realms fucked it sideways waaaaay before Gearbox got their hands on it. If anything, I feel sorry for the guys at Gearbox for when they received Duke Nukem Forever and found it to be a horrifying mess of bugged half-finished out of date levels topped with shitty, well ... shitty everything-else. Poor guys only had a few months to make it even marginally marketable.

I agree, but they could've just trashed what they had and start all over again. Sure it's a matter of money and time, but I think gearbox can afford both. Now they have to live with people like me, blaming gearbox for a crappy game and a ruined franchise. :(

I don't know every Gearbox game I've played with the exception of Opposing Force seems to be crappy.

Well, once you beat the game and unlock old gameplay trailers, you can see that they just took stuff that was already in it, changed it slightly and made it look pretty.

It just feels either rushed or lazy.

Too bad the game was never any of that footage. 3D Realms created that trailer from the ground up just to appease the fans, there was no actual gameplay footage in the trailer because there was no game.
