Hey guys, another upgrade to the site.
If you look on the main page at http://www.left4dead411.com/ you'll notice you can now click on the titles of stories and get unique pages for each story such as this one:
http://www.left4dead411.com/news/2007/12/happy-hol idays-and-story/ (http://www.left4dead411.com/news/2007/12/happy-holidays-and-story/)
There's also an Atom Feed (http://www.left4dead411.com/feed.xml) linked on the menu for anybody that uses that, and there's a news archive that will automatically update and let you find things from certain years/months also located on the menu:
http://www.left4dead411.com/news
Example for October only stories: http://www.left4dead411.com/news/2007/10/
The way the site used to be (for almost a year now) was me just directly editing the code of the pages that changed every time there was a new story. I put all the past news stories into a database and now everything is read from there (with caching to prevent the server from getting pwned from traffic). The real benefit will be in the future when there's a lot more news coming out, when things need to be changed and allowing people other than myself to add/edit/submit news and other parts of the website.
I'm dedicated to making this the best fansite out there, so any suggestions or ideas you have for now/the future (once L4D is out) that you think people might want/need, please post it.
So far this winter break we've now got the brand new look, screenshot and video galleries, fan fiction section, forum polls and private messaging, a lot of hidden upgrades, and now the entire news system upgrade. Let me know if you find any bugs or problems with the news system.
