Alright, my fellow 411ers. I have struggled with this dinosaur of a computer for a long time, having difficulty getting over 15 FPS on L4D2 set to minimum settings. So, in light of people telling me to "Git a bttr compootor, lulz", I have decided to do just that.

One thing that catches my eye.

The Alienware M11x.

Specs
GeForce GT 335M Dedicated Graphics, 1GB of VRAM.
8 GB DDR3 1066HMz RAM
500 GB 7,200RPM HD
Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo SU7300 processor
11.6 inch 720p 1366x768 HD Display
Battery Life of 8.5 hours on integrated graphics, 4 hour battery life running 335M.

All for a less then bank busting price of 800$. And by selling my current computer, I can get this laptop for about 400 bucks. The question being, is this the laptop for me? Can I run today's games at a decent setting, with a good framerate? I am willing to sacrifice quality for framerate, but it seems like that isn't enough anymore for my current computer. My budget is set at 1000$, so if you have a better deal, post a link or specs please.

The monitor is pretty small, mine is 16" on a laptop and that's really small so I don't know if 11" will be right for you. Also, what's the speed of the processor. And you might want to check with other companies like Asus, since Alienware is LOLBRANDNAMEPRICERAISE all the time.

Well, the thing being that my current desktop monitor is 21", and it has an option to plug the laptop into the monitor when I'm not on the road.

It didn't say, but I quote...

For gaming, photo editing, and HD video encoding enthusiasts, the Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo SU7300 processor has plenty of power for running demanding applications in the background while working on other tasks.

Edit: OUCH. Just google'd it. 1.30 GHz. So, now I'm looking for a different brand with a better processor and around the same budget. HALP PLIZ.

It's $800 US.

And here's a 19" moniter. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5551523&Sku=A179-1978

I don't know if you're willing to spend $910 US.

I've already got a monitor, so I'm good when it comes to that. But it's certainly a beast computer, I might actually buy that instead. I usually use the company laptop when I go on a roadtrip, so it's not like I need it.

Wait why do you want a laptop?
You can build a computer for less than 1000$ and it would run everything you could ever dream of at highest possible quality.

If you want to skip building one you can find some VERY good computers on Newegg for less than a thousand.

Here is the one I would recommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227207

Just get a desktop PC, they cost a lot less and they're more customisable.

Or you could get a laptop, go through all the trouble. Pay more, but you have a machine that you can use anywhere in the world so long as your battery lasts. That and you can just plug it in anywhere so you don't drain the battery.

Or you could save all that trouble, because not many people play PC anywhere other than home.

I don't NEED a laptop. I just found a good deal on a decent gaming computer, which happened to be a laptop.

The search continues!

Desktop PC. Like One said, you could build a killer rig for under $1k and it'll run anything out now and most/all of the stuff coming out.

Correction: Smart people go to Newegg. Why? Because they have the lowest prices unless you buy it used.

Why does the search continue? I posted the best one ever created in the history of the universe, and it's under 1000$.
NOT TO MENTION IT HAS CORE i7.

Because there's always a better deal out there. Sure, that looks good, but I'd rather not have to spend every one of my 1000 bucks. And the videocard looks a little weak.

I just got my new Gtx 260 and it can run Crysis maxed out :D

If you ever plan on getting one of those, make sure you have room in your PC case. It barely fit in mine. I almost gave up on trying to jam it in.
