Very good, only criticism is that a few of the 'boom' (for want of a better word) effects were a bit over-the-top, slightly disorientating.

The only thing I don't like about frag video is that it is supposedly "pro" games, but they are doing all of the same things that happen in pub games every day. Anyone could have made the exact same video is basically what I'm saying... and I agree with Nuttz about the effects too.

Yeah, basic footage, but you have to keep in mind this is against top tier teams, people who eat and then shit out pubs for breakfast.

Nice editing and some nice scenes, but some scenes look like played against pubs! For example those insta-kills, I mean players who know where those places are where the charger can charge them through a window normaly take care that you can't use those spots! And in this frag video they are just standing right in front of it!

Or the tank scene, lol most of the survivors didn't even move when the tank threw the rock even though they looked in the right direction! It just looks like "yeah hit me"!

Being one of the most well know frag video editors on these forums I figure I might bring in my opinion in on this.
The editing at times was very well done, but like the others have said here, the "boom" effect kinda made me sick, and I had to watch it 5-7 times over just to see what the fuck happened. When you have to watch something twice, you're fine. 5-7 times is bad. The footage itself is superb.... If it really is top tier teams. Which I doubt. Top tier teams don't leave themselves open like they did in the video. That's a major flaw in this video. They're not watching for anything, and they just... y'know... die? Based on editing alone, I'd give this a 8/10. But with the whole package, clips and all, 6/10. Loved most of the editing, but the actual footage itself leaves something to be desired.

Everyone who is bashing this for content and saying "The survivors are leaving themselves open", you need to think what survivor was doing there. Getting death charged for example, they were prob blocking spawn or being frag horny and trying to bonk the charger then failed. Doing that is how a lot of people get good footage for frag videos. Look at most of his woaw footage, it is when he is leaving himself open and being stupid but confident. Its the cycle.

Essentially, when I watch a "pro" video, I don't expect any instant kills, quad caps, or high damage pounces because the people playing know how to counter those. Unless of course most of this is friendly scrimming/all friends. In which case, those things are more likely because the game itself is much more relaxed.

Oh, by all means, it's good footage. Just not what I would expect for the level of players it is of. As I said, charger instant kills just aren't something I expect to see in a pro game. But again, they're likely in a friendly game. In a full scrim, I would expect some good hits and whatnot, just nothing too drastic.

In a good match with even teams, the rounds are decided by single attacks where you catch the other team off guard. When you see a death charge in Bowflexin's video, he doesn't get it because the survivor is an idiot who walked in front of him, he gets it because his teammates set it up or he managed to find a death charge that they wouldn't expect. Even "pro teams" can't counter a charger running smacking into them from point blank. Sorry.

If you guys really just cared about "what the footage looks like" you'd be satisfied with the video. It's death charges, damage pounces, and multicaps, and it's edited damn well. Instead, you're just taking it as an opportunity to talk shit on competitive play.

We're not hostile, we're not bad people. We defend each other when new people come in and post like they are the shit. Nobody is truly important here, please, DON'T act like you are. We'd love to have you, but we don't like people unable to take criticism. I'm just confused as to why he got so defensive over us saying that it doesn't LOOK like something you'd expect from pro caliber teams.

That clip was from Marks POV, and I wasn't even in that game. Yes, there was an AFK guy, yes it was fail, and yes, that was a shitty vid. It happens to be my second worst video, falling right next to my first video, AOTD on the Rampage.
The Rebirth and Sparkrdom are better, but by no means are they pro, nor have I once said I was the best video editor ever or that I was a pro player. I said I was one of the best known on 411. Me and Mark are the major native 411 editors. We both started here.

There's nothing special about the attacks, it's more the fact that you manage to land them on people who are aware and able to try to stop them.

Regardless of the caliber of your videos (pub footage has a place, too), you still railed on Bowflexin's videos pretty hard with little basis. That his attacks shouldn't have landed on good teams, that his footage was "sub par," and that there is "pub footage" which is just as good. The pub footage we've seen so far from your vids doesn't seem to be the same thing to me.

And I agree with you. From The Ashes was a very rushed video, very bad overall. I hate it. I really do. Go watch Sparkrdom for a much better overall video. But again, it's NOT the best. I admit that. And I accept criticism. I have no ill will towards Bowflex, I'm sure he's a great guy, but he needs to realize, you can't satisfy everyone.

You might want to explain how he was supposed to take your criticism constructively. I've been asking what he should have done in the video instead, and none of you have answered. There's no "constructive" in your criticism.

Yeah, I'm sure the guy was distracted, but from the short seconds you see it, it looks like it was some fail player being an idiot that got taken out. I don't want you guys to think that I was saying Bowflex is a liar, or anything, just that from a heavy critic for any kind of media, I get pretty tough on things.

I'm not an uncivil person. I just don't like feeling personally targeted when there were at least 2 other people saying the EXACT thing I was.
And yes, I've seen pubhero videos in the past (not L4D2 as far as I know) where there have been really good hits. And they looked pro, but when I read the description it was pubhero. Don't ask me for a link, it was 4 or 5 months ago and I 1 star'ed it and never saw anything of it again.
