I need some help with getting set up to mod

I am an aspiring level maker who doesnt have the tools to make maps so i have to resort to my xbox to make maps in halo and trials hd. I have a question i need to ask the mod community. I am helping my friend get set up to make a map for left for dead 2 (my computer is not good enough to play a l4d game so i am going to use my friends comp to make maps) we have hit a road block and i need help. we have installed source SDK and l4d2 autoring tools. but when we open up hammer from source sdk it tells us that we can only make the orange box mods. when we open it from the l4d2 authoring tools it goes to not responding almost instantly. if somthing doesnt make sence I will try to elaborate more on it and try to put pics of the trouble up on this thread.

You need to launch the L4D2 authoring tools.

The SDK only goes through the Orange Box engine, use the L4D2 authoring tools to do anything related to Left 4 Dead 2.

As for not responding quickly, that's normal. Hammer in both the L4D and L4D2 Authoring tools takes a while to load.

If it takes longer than 3-5 minutes, i'd say it has crashed.
