I need a mic.

Anyone have any recommendations? My budget right now is $50CAD. It was initially going to Left 4 Dead and maybe some other game, but apparently neither are actually coming out any time soon (February, the other game was BiA: HH, which actually comes out in April, and according to chat guys L4D comes out March-ish)

My main reason to get the mic is for Empires and ZP!S, both of which rely heavily on speedy communication, I just can't normally keep up. And besides, it's a good investment in the long run, because Left 4 Dead will be the same. And hopefully, I will have enough money for Left 4 Dead when it does release.

So again: I need a mic, within the $50CAD price range. Take into consideration that I don't want to order in online, and that I live in Canada. Thx.

Really? I got a headset with S.O.C.O.M im mainly referring to... well, mics. I already have a headset with a mic, I just don't like using the mic with the headset. Kinda defeats the surround sound. Unless you can use the mic without using the headset, anyone know?

I think its good headset, its easy to wear and you dont even notice it when its on your head. (i think so)

Some headset/mic combos from what I understand will have two plugs/jacks/connectors/whatever. One for the headphones part and the other for the microphone part.. so if it has two of those, just plug in the one for the mic. I think in some cases if it does only have the one, just plug it into the mic slot.. and then the headphones themselves won't work, only the mic will.

I'm not sure though.. I'm not too good from a technical standpoint but a friend of mine was in a similar situation and managed to pull off one of those two things I think (Might be different depending on sound card and/or headset thoguh).. Perhaps a bit of trial and error may be in order.

you can use the mic with out headset. I do it alot.

Not in my case. I just checked, it apparently just has one USB plug, not the two jacks.

I HAD one with two jacks, don't know where it is now though.

Just hang it around your neck, and let the surround sound play.

I only use a mic with headset because something about people swearing on surround sound makes my parents angry.
