Who has enough money to decide "Hey, I'm 13! I might as well fly to Nepal and climb a hugeass mountain!" He has also already flown to Africa to climb Mt. Kiliminjaro and in December he's going to Antarctica. Not to mention he probably had to pay huge amounts of money to get another person to climb with him.
Rich kid + boredom = stupid accomplishments.
Just saying, maybe he could of used his monehz to cure cancer or something.

Just saying, it still a big accomplishment to climb a hugeass mountain at such a young age but I'm concerned of where the funding came from and maybe it could have been used for something more useful.

You really can't say stuff like that, because you are on a computer on a forum about video games, which you buy, and which you do not need.
What you say may be true, but that is being hypocritical.

Hell, while you're on a roll, I don't need to eat this food, I can get by on worms and dirt. And I don't need to wear these clothes, I can get by naked. I don't need my car, I can walk.
What he meant by this is that such a trip would have cost thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. I see his point, but at the same time, Parliment just a few months ago, spent 6 million pounds on "Scientific Research". Said research? Finding out which biscuit is most likely to kill you. World's deadliest biscuit? The clotted cream biscuit from Wales.
THAT is a waste of money. As long as the kid paid for it himself, I say let him have his fun in the sun.

You don't take the mule to the top, just to Base Camp 1, just below the Death Zone.

the Death Zone.
Sounds fun.
Bet you that will be the name of a game in the next 10 years.
Not to belittle the kid's accomplishment, (well a bit actually,) but climbing Mount Everest isn't the huge feat it was back in the 50s. If you've got enough money you're pretty much guaranteed a spot on the summit unless something goes terribly wrong. It's more the challenge to the people or agency who get paid to take him to the top. There's danger, sure but that's just assumed by the client who, at thirteen, would think he's indestructable and wouldn't give a rat's arse.
I'm more impressed with the Aussie girl and her solo circumnavigation. Even I thought it was a mistake letting her try, especially because she didn't seem to have that much experience. Also the fact that she accomplished the feat literally on her own is more impressive than a kid with a team behind him complete with three sherpa guides.

I'm just having trouble grasping the fact that a 13 year old has climbed the tallest mountain in the world and put people like Edmund Hillary to shame.
Maybe he had plenty of supplies, escorted to the top by sherpas.
Seriously what's next? an 8 year old sailing around the world by himself?
