I sent a cheeky email to the nice guy (Jon Blyth) at PC Zone guy that was sent to Valve/wrote the article, asking him if he thinks L4D will be released in Q1. Judging by his reply, I don't think you'll see a release date in this month's mag (make sure you still buy it though, just for their effort).

They're being typically Valve about release dates, and won't say anything other than &quot;when it's finished&quot;.

I couldn't wheedle anything else out of them, but I think there's a bit of work left to do - the build I played was excellent fun, but you could see it still needed creases ironing out - not to mention the fact they haven't showcased the zombie team as playable characters yet, either. I'm not convinved it'll be Q1, myself.

That said, it's never clever to second guess a Valve release date.

It's a great game though, I'm a bit chuffed to have played it.

They are normally a month ahead, so in January you see February's edition on the shelf.

It's all about the marketing. People see it in January and think &quot;Ooohh, Februar's edition already, I'll be ahead with the latest info&quot;. Shame that when they all do it, it loses its affect.

Also, it's the same as the &quot;Exclusive&quot;...it's all about the marketing.

No new news but there is some sweet new pics. I really like the 100 zombies coming at Louis with the dramatic flashlight shining on those zombies in cornfield! :-) I guess you can piss off a witch just by looking at her too which is kinda lame. Almost like Indiana Jones and The Lost Ark &quot;Don't look at it!&quot; *The animation with Bill is really cool along with his facial expressions. They got a news reporting van in the background which is funny as well. Most likely the point of origin of this new strain of rabies came from that hospital. May be why the news team was reporting on a possible new and deadly virus...

Hey, this is not official either. Read the e-mail, sent by Atari. They said Q2 is what they would estimate!

(Could be accurate, or not. Other journalists, like the guys from Gamer.tv estimated Q1, so in the end we know as much as before... One can still hope. :/ )

From the PC ZONE article it sounds like the music is dynamic, can anyone who's play tested tell me what the music is like? for example does it go to a low rhythm and suddenly peak as too tease you or something along those lines?

All of this news and previews can only mean good things. If they weren't going to release it soon they wouldn't be encouraging and sparking all the previews.

It's times like this that I wish Valve was the kind of company that would release a game when it's still half assed. But because they don't is the reason that I love them =)

Derogatory comment? Mike Patton?! I love Mike Patton's work (Mr. Bungle (hence my name :D), Faith No More, Tomahawk etc.) so I was really pleased and surprised to find out he did the voice acting for the infected and boss infected (at least some of them right? I'm sure he did the Boomer....).
Go Patton and L4D! I hope he gets it... Playing left for dead with Patton would be awesome. He's one sick bastard!

Edit: I meant Left 4 Dead... Not Left for Dead... Meh.
