Are you 10 years old or something?

I thought the initial post was worse tbh.

Edit: Anyway, the required specs won't be known until the game goes gold/release. If you can play CS:S well and TF2 well, you'll be ok.

BTW, this game runs the source engine. Therefore it will require the same hardware specs as other new source games. let's see..... hmmmm.... Maybe HL2:EP2... Try Google that...

Yeah, HL2:EP2 would be a good benchmark.

ive been thinking l4d could actually hammer ur pc.

i didnt realise how much prossesing power the bots on cs took untill i filled my own server, the amount of infected which are AI controlled and updated with new orders/anims are gonna take even more prossesing power to run:S

what u think?

Have you been drinking? Or just a mong attack?

No official figures have been released, we can only guess at likely specs.

Well, since you've obviously got a computer to post with, I think the next big impediment may in fact be your acumen.

i dont think the ai for the infected will be as smart as the ai in cs... i mean they are zomb/infec there meant to be dumb with only a few goals to achieve... it will more be the ai director that will need the processing... so im guessing its just the host that will suffer :P

That's a fallacy, imo. The Infected have to be able to climb over all kinds of obstacles, move in groups and so on. Of course I don't know, but I'd guess it's the other way around.

i think the groups is just a coincidence as they will be spawned near each other and there goal is to attack survivor a, or wait on a spot till a survivor is puked on or survivors are near and make noise/light...they climb over obstacles wont take a lot of ai processing... in cs they act like a ct team, communicate with each other, act upon radio commands, defuse bombs, rescue hostages, handle multiple guns and use multiple guns, use grenades and work out the projectory, find advantage point locations to camp, have to accurately aim, and aim with different difficulties... plus more that i can't think of right now

-edit- also you can play on a server with 16 bots and play stable... but if you added 16 bots in your server you'd have a frames nightmare.

Since when has AI taken up processing? It's always been polygons(bodies), anti-aliasing, and physics that have taken up the most processing in my past experience. Those should be of most concern.

same here, if trs are calling it the "next step" in there AI its gotta be a more tectnical version of the cs bot

In ut3 they can run 128 bots with no extra lag. CSS has terrible programming for the bots and lag.

Left 4 Dead will definately focus on a more optimized way of handling bots.

In ut3 I can definately have fun with almost no extra lag with 128 players! Of course, there's a mod that increases the player limit on bots, but the fact that there is almost no extra lag is amazing and proves that this is easily possible.

Knowing Valve, they will easily be able to find a good, optimized way of running bots

Somthing better that could run EP2, But you 100% need a quad core for best FPS.

There Are None. Just to answer your question...
Probably won't be released until Development is complete.
If you can play an Orange Box game, I'm sure you'll be fine.

What you need to play L4D:

Recommended:
If you can run HL2EP2 in more than 50+ FPS on all settings set to "Very High"

Minimum:
If you can run HL2EP2 in more than or equal to 45+ FPS on all settings set to "Low or Medium"

Why does this involve HL2EP2? I heard one of the videos mentioned that if you can play EP2 well, then you can play this also.

You 100% don't.

Go to a CSS Zombie Hell server, where there are only 20 bots on screen and they doesn't have that much AI, if you can't handle that or lag,TIEM FOAR upgrade.

Yes, although modified it still uses Direct X 9.

True but has anyone ever asked Mike, if L4D will support multithreading? I bet it will support 2 cores but not 4.

So I think:
Pentium 4 processor (3.0 GHz or better), 1 GB RAM, DirectX 9 compatible video card, Windows 2000/XP/Vista

Minimum: 1.7 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX® 8 level Graphics Card, Windows® Vista/XP/2000, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

Recommended: Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz, or better), 1GB RAM, DirectX® 9 level Graphics Card, Windows® Vista/XP/2000, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

If you are above the recommended, you'll be ok. If you are on or below the recommended, I would consider an upgrade.
