Hey, just got a new headset. Never had one before, but I can't get the damn thing to work. I have set realtek sound manager to headphones, but sound still comes out the speakers. I don't think the mic is working either...
They are plugged into the jacks on the front of my PC (Headphone in the green jack, and mic in the other one...). Why won't it work! Please help me! I am a n00b!
Edit: I am also using onboard sound, I don't have a sound card.

Well, it sounds strange but instead of plugging them into the front, try the back. I have to do that for mine.. no idea why.

Try turning the thing on.
Check if your mic works in Control panel -> ..Soundstuff.

I'll try that... Had a look earlier though and couldn't figure out where in the back to put the things... Like I say, I don't know my way about when it comes to computer hardware etc.
Try turning the thing on.
The mic has an on button, but the headphones don't, and I can't get them to work either. I shall try said suggestions however. Thanks for the help thus far :)

It's funny I had this same problem ( different solution ) and I have realtek.
Any from forum posts I've read it seems me and you arent the only 1's having problems.
EDIT:
If you have a front panel mic and line in connections to work go into your realtek sound manager (not the windows one) thats in control panel and go to the Audio I/O tab at the top, then click the little wrench at the top then click "Disable front jack detection" it worked for me.
