It seems like I have been fixing a lot of computers lately. And everyone is complaining about their computers slowing down after it getting old. What I tell them to do is download CCleaner. As you use your computer for daily things, like installing programs, browsing the web, and countless other things. Your pc collects crap. It's like a pack rat, it does not throw stuff away it thinks it needs for the future. Every time you visit a website, your pc saves images, text and tons of other stuff it thinks you need, so when you visit a site, it loads faster since you have some of the site's data stored on your pc already. But what happens when you visit a site and never return? Your pc still stores that crap, and it builds up. When you install a program, then uninstall it, your pc still remembers the file names in the registry, every time your pc boots up, it goes through it all to see what needs to be booted up. And if it looks for a file that does not exist, it spends time searching, thus slowing down your boot time. And as your pc goes about it's routine, it still remembers the programs that were installed, and it might try to run them some times, and it will take up ram space and processes to slow your pc down even more. If you didn't notice already, when you delete a program or a file, parts are still left behind, and take up more space.

All this program does is deletes all your saved files from internet browsing to free up hard drive space to you'll never need, and it deletes registry issues to speed up your computer's boot times and processes, and gets rid of any programs that did not uninstall completely.

I'm only putting this out there since a lot of people have asked me how to speed up their pc, and this is the best and simplest way. Trust me, I had 60 fps on gta4 when I first bought it, half a year later, I was getting 30. Turns out registry issues were the problem, I'm getting 60 again, and it's nice. Also got 4 gigs of hard drive space cleared from the packrat crap my pc saves(860 mb from firefox, 3 gigs from uninstalled programs that left junk behind).

So give it a download, if you have an older pc, you'll get rid of tons of crap, and get it almost like new.

Also, give your pc a defrag after to get the maximum effect, so it will put everything in nice order.

/helpful tip of the day

Also, we should have a competition on who get's the most crap out of their pc, could be interesting...

Just wondering, does it throw away files, or stuff that we just kept archived in the bottom of our hard drives? Cause I want to keep that stuff. Just get rid of registry files (I've been looking for something like this :D)

You can choose what you want to get thrown away, it's standard configuration only deletes stuff you'll never use again. Like uninstalled programs and pictures your browser saved from websites. Not the ones you downloaded manually. But your pc saved so the next time you visit it loads faster. You can have it delete more or less, but it will only let you delete non-vital stuff. So the first time you visted l4d411, your computer downloaded and kept the banner, background, and some code from this website, so next time you visited, it had it already, so it loaded quicker. It only deletes those things. So think about all the times you visited a website once. That's a lot of crap being saved lol.

There are advanced options to save more space, but you should really know what your doing if you want to use those. But the standard configuration works like a charm and kicks ass.

Damn! I thought me getting 4 gigs free was a lot, didn't expect anyone to get 10x my amount. You should defrag too after, to get everything in line, since there will be a lot of gaps in your hard drive, so you can get it running nice and smoothly.

Advanced System Care PRO does everything CCleaner does and more. It removes spyware, fixes the Registry, does a Privacy Sweep, cleans all Junk Files, optimizes system settings, does a quick or deep defrag, and analyzes security. Not to mention it also comes with several Utilities like an Internet Booster, Registry Defrag, Smart RAM manager, Game Booster, System File Checker, Auto Shutdown Tool, IObit Uninstaller, and a Cloned Files Finder.

It's all I'll ever need. It also has a neat little boost feature which takes the load off of your CPU and helps processes run faster by cleaning up your RAM.

Interesting... I'll have to download it and run it through it's paces. Thanks for the tip!
EDIT: Trial version does not let you do anything... If they want me to buy, they should at least let me use it for a few days...

It depends where you get it. I know some places have it for cheaper than the developer's site. Like Amazon or eBay and stuff like that

It has a free version which has all features unlocked.
If you want the Pro version for free, all you need to do is put on an eyepatch and think happy thoughts.

EDIT: Trial version does not let you do anything... If they want me to buy, they should at least let me use it for a few days...
Wus you talkin' bout willis?
The free version literally has every single feature unlocked except for the ability to schedule. And it's unlimited, not a trial. Make sure you're downloading the right version.

clearing registry is not that big performance improver since XP / NT 4.0 anymore.

before those os' every windows completely loaded up the registry at start and thats why a overloaded registry could cause performance issues. but since XP / NT 4.0 the os only loads those registry entries that are needed.

if you have issues with the registry (missplaced entries or whatever) then it's good to have a tool like this, if not it's useless, regarding to the registry cleaning.

Anyway I've had CCleaner for awhile and it is a really useful tool for making your computer a bit faster. I just ran it again and removed 2.6GB of crap.
