I sent him an E-Mail and got a response, this might answer some questions about Left4Dead.

Hello, I was wondering if I could get some answers on some issues.

1. For the Xbox360 version for Left4Dead, will split screen be a
possibility, for people who want to play on one console?

2. If you can play Half Life 2: Episode 2 can you play Left4Dead?

3. The chat menu is nice for PC, but will there also be a option for just
using a Microphone?

4. For Xbox 360, I know the achievements system for PC is just like a Menu,
but for Xbox 360 will it be implemented like for Gamerscore and such?

5. Is there a different type of escape for each map like, I know the
Hospital map has a helicopter but does the Cornfield map, hasve a helicopter
as well or something else?

6. I know you were planning on adding more Boss infected, but with more
boss infected, come more survivors, like another character, like, jeff for
example?

Thank you for time, and keep up the good work, I can't wait for Left4Dead,
like most of the L4D411 community. Thanks again.

~Psyche

Hi Psyche,

1) We're looking at the possibility of split screen, but haven't made any
decisions on it yet.

2) You should be able to, yes.

3) The "chat menu" is great for skilled players who want to maximize the
game's "cinematic" feel by only using and hearing the voices of the in-game
characters. However, full support for voice-over-IP is available just like
other Source games such as Team Fortress 2 or Counter-Strike:Source.

4) We plan to fully integrate Left 4 Dead stats into the XBox Live
achievements system.

5) Something else.

6) That is a possibility, but we're not planning on that any time soon. We
want to spend more time developing the four Survivor characters rather than
expand their roster.

5) Something else.

I hope it's a unicycle with a mounted Death Star's Superlaser ... (a unicycle with 4 seats).

I seem to recall reading somewhere that you escaped in a truck for the cornfield map.

Hmm?

It means he'd rather have the 4 characters have more lines of dialogue, than start on a fifth set of dialogue.

does this possibly mean that the game wont be coming out any time soon if they still are adding more content? because seriously, wen you think about it, if they do add splitscreen that means they have to test it out to see if it works fine which could take a few weeks.

but yeah thanks for the post because it was informative. i just seriously hope this game does make its rumored febuary release date. if it doesnt i hope they release some sort of demo for it because the lack of information on this game and videos/pics of the same map over and over is getting very old (the cornfield pic was nice but it was only 1 pic).

i think if they decide to go with slpitscreen and wish to test it then they will release the 360 version later possibly.

If it has split screen i will die due to overwhelming happiness, i think that would be rad. me and my roomates would never leave home.
if the do not have slpit screen it will be a shame... *tear*

For heavens sake please include split-screen! Even a rudimentary offline splitscreen, PLEASE!!!

That's interesting about the possibility of further developing the characters. Would be nice if they were not just skins. Though yeah he could have been talking about the large amounts of recorded stuff for them to say.

Considering that they're being taken over, that they are neck deep in development and all the other things that go with running a successful developer, for this guy to take the time out to respond to fan email's (when to be honest he doesn't even have to read let alone respond to) to me shows some serious dedication to the fan community.

Even if the game turn out crap (and that is not likely), Mike B will always have my respect because of that alone.

Please, for all that is holy and good, please include split screen. Online or offline. It's 2008, there is absolutely no excuse for not having it.

THANK YOU for asking questions about the 360 version, I've been dying to know stuff like achievements and split-screen. Imo, split-screen will be balls unless you have a big ass tv. Why would you want to share a tiny average tv and not get a full view of everything.
