im just as bummed as everyone else, but think of it this way.
a. there will be a ton of time to make the game even MORE fun.
b. now you dont have to worry about when its getting released, theres a semi solid date rather than all these assumptions
c. who knows, they may have the game totally finished besides some finishing touches, but maybe they are going to focus now on later releases such as new campaigns, bosses, and weapons. this way theyll have the game released with all the extra content ready to go whenever they decide to release that.

Um, says you? Valve bought Turtle Rock and it is now a Valve game. Well I could bitch all I want but that won't get me anywhere. This Spring I graduate with my Associate in welding. I'm hoping I can decide on a union I want and get an internship somewhere. Then start saving up money for "the trip". I don't know how I'm going to do it, but I'm gonna figure out where I want to go to on the west coast. I hate MA and I especially hate every aspect about New England. You can't get a welding job here, the high quality of life, etc, etc. I'm thinking of Oregon, California, or even Colorado. If I somehow visit Oregon, I will try and figure out how to get to Seattle, WA. :-p I can't pass that up getting that close.

It will probably be kinda of family trip as well so I can imagine it will happen this Summer. So to sum it up, I don't know what will happen this year. Also get a life people and escape the L4D drama! :-p Hey, I might get to play it before any of you and you people will still be bitching to it's release. So get out there and live your life! :-p

This doesn't make sense to me, honestly. They've been letting people play the game months ago, and it seemed to only have a few bugs in it. And even with what little bugs it had, there were huge lines.

Now is the &quot;go time.&quot; If they push it back like this fo' rizzles, we're not -- or at least I'm not -- going to pay any attention at all to the game anymore. It would be a complete waste of my time to sit around eternally waiting for a game that's eternally just around the corner.

Wow until they give an exact date date on a product such as mm/dd/yyyy never expect it near what they say, they have every right to push it back another year if they have to. The only time I get some what mad is when they release a specific and then push back the date when it is a couple weeks before the release date given. I have been following Spore for about 5 years now and they had predictions of the game coming out in 06 and have been pushing it back ever since.

This is hardly out of the ordinary for the industry. A whole slew of factors can cause these delays, from funding to a competitive market. A running joke has been &quot;Valve time&quot; for years because they are elusive with their release info and things are frequently pushed back. The result: the games many of us here love. Games lose sales because they receive poor reviews by skimping on the polish.

I, for one, choose not to support the developers who rush to meet a deadline. I'll never abandon a title just because the developers have decided that the game isn't ready yet...

You guys are failing to realize the game conventions, the German one (Leitzpeig or whatever), and E3 itself. Plus we got multiple LAN conventions coming up including QuakeCon.

That's really an interesting outlook, hool10. Another E3! All Valve did during the last E3 was showing the Orange Box, but they are not going to have any other titles in the works this year. (Except maybe a glimpse at EP3)

Hopefully. I would also hope they would improve the graphics (by then, it may look a bit outdated) and add in the some content they intended to release in the first patch etc. However, since they have delayed it probably means they need the time for whatever reason. At least we will definitely (hopefully...) get the game we were hoping for.
It does suck that they have (possibly unintentionally) raised our hopes of a release in the next few months due to previews and claims that it is 90% done etc. They should have estimated way ahead of what they did when asked about releases, instead of getting everyones hopes up.
Let's just hope the game lives up to expectations when it does come out. I for one am sure it will.

Sorry to post again but... Fully agree with everything you said. Like I said at the start of this thread, since it's been delayed, it better come out with Ep3 and other stuff too! That would be sweet, but I feel like it may be unlikely... Has there been any word about Ep3 at all?

Yah, I don't think L4D is really that gory. Yes, you kill infected and their blood goes everywhere, but this is the valve engine so I don't think it'll get much worse than CS: S or HF 2. Also, because they are using the valve engine, I don't think they'll update to Dx 10 (would be nice though), or even make it look better anyway. I don't think the valve engine is getting updated again until epi 3 comes out. Pure speculation, of course.

There were windows to release this game for me, I haven't said I'm not going to get it. But late Summer is very narrow, and by chance I may not be able to get it. A summer ago was a perfect time to release a game, so was last holiday season, hell, February and March was stretching it... But I had money, so why not? Now though, it might not even happen. And if they delay one more time, it won't. And if that's indeed the case, I'd be sorely disappointed. But really, I won't care for more than a couple days after release.

That's why im so eager for a release, it's not whether I will or wont, it's been whether I can or cannot. Unfortunately, it's leaning more towards can not. Especially if SC2 and LittleBigPlanet release around the same time, because I'd rather get one of those two instead.

And that's why I think many people won't get it. Hell, it should be pretty evident people don't buy as many related goods during certain times of the year. I imagine Holiday season would be a peak, and start of schooling a low. Which is pretty much when Left 4 Dead releases.

Terrible news. I don't see why its delayed that much. And I also think this is going to hurt their sales a lot trying to compete with some other big name games coming out around that time. I wouldn't count on any more features or content for the first release than what has been already announced. Half of the levels haven't been shown yet, and those alone are probly a few months of work. It's nice to think that more time = more stuff, but it's likely been delayed because it's not finished, not because they're adding more content.

And I hope to god L4D is NOT released with Ep#3 because that would mean release would be even farther away!

I thought Stalker was good. Buggy, but good. I was looking forward to Hellgate London, then it got really bad reviews (well, not REALLY bad, but not great), so I left it...
To be honest, I think the delay can be only a good thing (only bad point: We have to wait longer for it. Good point: It will be better).
Really, you can't blame them for wanting to release the game finished and as they want it to be released (ie. Hopefully perfect).
You could blame them, however, for getting people's interest via trailers and previews a long time before they are going to release. However, they maybe did intend to release it sooner. I'm sure at some point they will release info about this. Let's just be glad the game exists (And that we WILL play it at some point). I'm sure they will recapture the interest of those who have lost their interest whenever they want. All they have to do is release more media, and they know it.

Different companies have differing policies in how they go about PR, some are quite upfront and give their public regular updates on a games progress, others, like Valve, give the public the silent treatment, which personally gets my back up.

If a game has been delayed, I would rather know about it. Not knowing anything feeds fear uncertainty and doubt.

i dont think a new campain will be the reason of the delay, because MB said one of the easiest things to do will be to make new maps/campains. coz the Director will fill the maps with the AI and if they scripted or trigged it would take a long time, so this would make me think there is a set back in the tec side, maybe they cant get the director to work how they want or there may be somthing that doesnt work on the infected side of life.
from the beggining they all seemed to have a clear idea of what this game will be and i dont think they would put back the release for a new idea or map. but its all speculation at this point, anyone who can should get in touch with TRS to find out, i would love if they did add another campain for the release just for the trouble.
