Minecraft Succession Game

NOTE: YOU MUST OWN A MINECRAFT ACCOUNT TO PLAY THIS. THIS IS SURVIVAL MODE SINGLE PLAYER.

This is also on HARD MODE.

Simply put, people take turns playing until either the thread dies off or a pre-determined date is reached - then start over.

Someone starts the game and can do anything they want - literally. However, each player only has three real life days (72 hours) to do whatever they feel is necessary. Be it make the area safer, mine just because, or hell just start a farm. They can play as much or as little as they like during those three days.

At the end of a turn, the player should host the save file somewhere where the next person in line can access it, and that's about it. You don't even have to talk about what you did, unless you want. You could certainly do it diary style with posts while you play and pictures to talk about it if you wanted for each of the three days - but it isn't required.

You'd have to remember that everyone is playing the same game and trying to make something of it, so griefing wouldn't really be tolerated. Plain old fun, such as making weird inventory formations or making weird things you have hidden would certainly be okay.

Humm, been playing for a while, I have a nice set up going on, but I have not ran into a single enemy yet... Weird, I was scared to death when I fell into a cavern and had to craft more torches... And nothing was there... All the caves near my house are empty... Just weird lol.

Almost died a bit ago... Was wondering the ocean, found an island with a TON of animals, I killed them all, got a ton of leather and stuff, as soon as I put it all on, a skeleton and creeper attacked, I survived by 1.5 health... So close lol...

Sorry for Double post.
Progress so Far: I have gathered some wheat from Shadows nice farm. I am also expanding his farm and turning it into a Greenhouse to block mobs from trampling on the plants and Tilled soil. I am currently working on a nearby mountain, making a watchtower to look around in the canyons. I am currently exploring Shadow's mine system in the house he has made. So far so good, I have died once but was able to pick everything up again (stupid creepers...)
I am about to go to work again.

Bah, triple post.. Mods, can the person using the save have a couple posts in a row since it is like a "Diary" or what?

Progress so far: I have made a Sunroof in the main house. The sunroof will light up the inside during the day, it is also a big pit so if a monster falls in, he will be stuck and the sun light will kill them. This allows you to grab the materials from the mob.

I have almost finished with the Greenhouse. I might also make an underground tunnel connecting the house and the Greenhouse. This will eliminate the need to go outside and be in danger at night.

I have found 44 Red stone dust. I will start making devices if I have enough time.

I haven't had enough time to work on the Watchtower at the moment, I have been needing to gather more coal, wood and other resources.

I currently am stocked up on a lot of ham.

The Wheat farm is going good and currently all new wheat is just planted. I need to re-till some soil though, as it has dried up.

I have made some Steel armor, but waiting to make more as I need more steel tools.

I am about to go on a big mining expedition to find some Diamond. If you would like me to livestream, just say so here or on steam and I will start it up.

Also Shadow, I found your little Hidden Chest showing a formation of a hammer, lol.

NOTE!!!! My videos are turning out extremely loud for some reason. I don't know why, even when turning volume down, they are still loud.

Progress so Far: I have been gathering more wood, and planting more trees out in front.

I have mainly been working on the Greenhouse, currently, it is about 3/4 done. I have also made a tunnel connecting the main house to the greenhouse. This eliminates the need of the front door. I have torn down the door and replaced with front with Cobblestone (Sorry if this angers you Shadow) and made an underground entrance.

Never be afraid to destroy anything unless you're completely leveling something. This is the magic of the succession game. If we go around to everyone and each person gets a second try, they get to see how much the level as evolved since they last worked on it :D

Progress so Far: Currently, the Greenhouse is FINISHED! Took a ton of glass.

I have dug deeper into some mines, while doing this I ran into a mob I have NEVER SEEN. It was like a blob, square little blob (Didn't capture it on Fraps), it dropped a little slime ball, this is now safe in a chest.

While digging, I found an open way into an area with a TON of zombies. I suspect a zombie spawner back there. I found some lava there too.

With this lava, I decided to make a trash chute in the house. This makes it so we can throw away stuff we do not need and not worry about storage.

Right now, I am gonna collect wood since it is day. Now that MOST of the main jobs I wanted are done, I am gonna go work on the watchtower. However, I may restart it and start working with Cobblestone instead of wood.

Progress so Far: Well.. I am sorry guys, but with my stupidity, the house has burnt down. The trash chute was built near wood, it was surrounded by the cobblestones and half blocks. But one of those fire balls must have flown out and caught wood on fire. This.. is a tragedy. I am sorry guys, but the place is FLOODED with lava.. it seems we must move on to a new home. :(

I don't know what the problem is, but it's now the third time after 2-3 hours of gameplay that my pc completely freezes while playing minecraft (I've never had that before) which results in totally fucking up the savegame. By that I mean that whenever I want to load the savegame of minecraft after the pc crash, I end up in nirvana where I can't see nor do anything. I only see a green texture, but pressing wasd doesn't do anything.

thats just frustrating.

no it's not a java issue, I had this problem before that my pc freezes out of nowhere. it's just that it happens more frequently while playing minecraft even though minecraft never caused them before.

right now I'm trying to figure out if it's a hardware problem or not. whatever it is, I'm not motivated enough to continue in this succession game.

I might rejoin later when the freezes are fixed.

nah, cpu usage is only 25-38% while playing minecraft, thats just fine.

Sounds more like a memtest is necessary here, gonna do that over night.

Yes they are. He hasn't said if everything will work on the old saves, but biomes should be there, you just have to go far out enough to make the game load a fresh 'chunk' of the world.

Alright, my gamesave is up on the front page for those who want it. I'm a very sporadic player, so my base is ALL over the place. It goes down into the mountain, and if you go a hard right turn from the save you can follow a path that winds up the mountain to a skybridge - which leads to another mountain - with another skybridge that leads to a 'secret base' that I had just started working on, making it safe against attacks.

I have torches ALL OVER the place outside, so you should be able to do whatever is necessary outside through the front door. There is a tree farm outside as well that I made, so make sure to keep the planting up.

It'll be thrilling when 1.8 comes out, and I never passed it on since I believe the update to 1.5 corrupted the map. So all my progress was lost, which was mostly an underwater tunnel. And a few caves explored. What we need is a minecraft MP server.

Day One

So I thought it might make things a little more interesting if the map in question wasn't some boring randomly-generated thing, but rather one of the most popular Survival maps on the internets: Skylands!

I start out in front of a a quaint little brick tower. The signs invite me in, so I do exactly that.

Upon initial inspection, it would appear that this is a tower for preparation. A sign and chest prompt me to take a number of useful items, but I leave a few behind, should I fall to my death on day one like a prat.

The second floor of the tower housed multiple 'hint' signs, almost like a tiny tutorial. One of which told me to look out for secrets, hinting that there was one such secret "to the south". I exited the tower and tried to orientate myself. Before long I noticed there were multiple signs around the outskirts of the initial floating island, telling me the names of the areas in that direction.

Anyway, I found the secret the sign had hinted at, but it was located on another island much, much lower than my own. In my attempts to dig down into my own island I found a secret loot box containing a couple of golden apples and other treasures. I plopped a few of the trinkets in the tower chest and headed out. I figured if I couldn't go straight down to that secret area, I'd have to make my way from island to island until I found an interconnecting land-mass.

Then I decided to go and slay some peeps on TF2.

After a few fights and having lost a fair few hearts, I made it out of the little wood island and caught my second glance of the treasure hut I was trying to reach. Or rather, the general location of where I think the treasure hut was.

As day turned to night I found a little doggy. He was a bit retarded, so I named him Zorgy. He likes tempting fate:

I don't really know what happened to Zorgy but let's just say that about five minutes later I noticed he wasn't there any more.

Soon after daybreak I was met with another conundrum. In order to progress towards the treasure place I would need to cross this large gap between the islands, with my only way across being a shit-load of sand.

Being the brave soul that I am, I decided to fuck the sand and make a dirt bridge instead. It was after this point that I realised I was lost. I was about to turn back when I noticed a really fancy looking desert island just on the edge of my vision. I made a big-ass wood bridge over to it, realised it was crawling with nasties, took two pictures, made a hut then called it a day.

With a fancy new texture pack installed, I was dropped back into my little hut in the middle of nowhere. Here's the bridge I built, for reference:

Quickly running out of blocks to build my bridge with, I decided to use my water bucket to slide down the rest of the way. The creepers patiently awaited my descent before turning me into tiny bits.

Once day had broken I decided to assess the damage. It wasn't too bad, but I sure as hell wasn't going to stay there.

During my further adventures, however, I came across what seemed to be a dungeon:

This seemed like a good place to stop and let One of Them take over, so I made my way down with a makeshift staircase, popped in the dungeon (briefly), stole a couple of things then made my way back to the roof, where I stored all of my stuff so that I could change the spawn*, and also so that we don't lose everything if One of Them gets buttsexed.

*Skylands has a system where you can use a file in the World 5 folder to change your spawn, should you discover a new spawn location. The top of this dungeon would appear to be one of these areas.

I read Viper's last journal entry before beginning my adventure, and knowing that I was to begin by plunging deep into a horrifying dungeon filled with mystery and possibly soon to be my remains, I was a bit hesitant.

I started up the map to find a friendly message from Viper:

I grabbed what I thought I needed from the arrangement of chests in front of me and began my... erm... "Ascension".

Right off the bat it was a little eerie, as the only thing I could hear was the constant screeching of spiders and moaning of zombies. I immediately started placing torches EVERYWHERE because I don't like to be surprised. Since the constant noises were getting a bit annoying and creepy, I covered them up with my grooveshark playlist.

The first level of the dungeon wasn't anything too difficult. Just 2 spiders followed by a creeper (which almost surprised me... almost), which I quickly dispatched with the diamond sword.

It was then that I plunged into the second floor, which was a bit more of a mess. I was greeted by 3 spiders and 2 creepers. The 3 spiders came first and got a few hits on me before I was able to kill them, then the two creepers came around the corner. None of them exploded (luckily).

Floor two also had a ladder with a sign next to it dubbing it "Service Ladder: USE WITH CAUTION". I looked down to briefly see a Squid swim by and a zombie gracefully wandering in circles. I placed a chest and threw some stuff in it that I didn't want to lose and continued down the ladder to battle this fearsome KRAKEN of the deep.

It actually wasn't hard, because what looked like a sea of water from above was actually a small pool.

There was also another Squid in a pool a bit away from this one but it was quickly taken care of. This level was also crawling with vulture droi- I mean spiders.

And that was the end of Day 1 because I have some errands to run.

Day 2

Before I start I would just like to thank Paradox Viper for introducing me to this fucking hell hole. It's always nice starting up a game to immediately risk your life in a god damn simulated hell in a box. Anyway, apparently the first few floors that I went through yesterday were the EASY floors. I'll just go over what happened on each floor after the floors from yesterday, starting with floor one.

Floor One
This one wasn't too creepy. It was fairly well lit and was filled with books.

The only nasty creatures in it were some zombies, which were of course easy to defeat under the might of the diamond sword.

I found a few chests in this area with some Iron Bars and other useless junk. Not sure why I took it all as I quickly had to get rid of it later in the dungeon.

Floor Two
This floor was the start of a new kind of fear. A kind of fear I had never felt in a game before. You see, it drops you into a small corridor where all you can do is go two directions. Forward and backward. Throughout your travels down this long dark corridor you are accompanied by the sounds of god-knows-what lurking around the corners. Often I would turn around to see a god damn motherfuckin zombie or spider suddenly BE THERE when they weren't a second ago.
At the end of this floor was a ladder downward and a chest.

Floor Three
I peered down at this floor from above to immediately see that it was bigger and had some blocks I had not seen in this dungeon before.

After dropping down I figured out that the large amount of space was because there was a shitload of creepers. I apologize for not getting any screenshots of the enormity of the creepers on this level, but you see I find it difficult to press ALT+PRTSCR while avoiding them.

Floor Four
After floor three I think the creativity just sort of stopped. It was pretty much rooms like this the rest of the way down.

Filled with zombies, spiders, crates, and even a few surprise creepers. The respawn rate must have been higher in these rooms too, because they respawned very god damn fast. I found myself hurrying through the remaining floors.

Floor Five
Pretty much the same as Floor Four.

I discovered that this was the final floor because I could not find any ladders that went farther down, and I mined through the floor to see empty sky beneath me. I then mined through the walls to get a breath of fresh air.

It was as I gazed out upon the landscape that I had not seen until just now, I realized that there was nothing down here to get me back to the top of this dungeon. There was no exit down here.

That means I had to go back up through every single floor, battle another shitload of mobs, before I actually got to step foot on the surface world again. I cried.

And then I scurried like fucking crazy up those ladders. I had to fight off a few creeps but when you're in a hurry it's a lot easier to avoid them somehow. Finally I reached the top with all my loot (and only dying once throughout the entire dungeon). It is here that I shall end Day 2. Unfortunately two of my days were spent inside a lonely and frightening dungeon, but tomorrow I will make it my mission to find an interesting place to pass this map to Godshelp.

Stop saying that I screwed over your inventory and put you in a field in the middle of nowhere where you couldn't find the dungeon. I still have my save. You may not be directly staring at all of your items in a nicely packed crate, but it's still within 10 feet of you. You literally only had to look to the left to find a giant wooden box floating in the sky (the dungeon) with several chests standing on it. I didn't even move my third day, so obviously you didn't do anything and are trying to blame it on a "reformat" that you didn't even have to do.

Man up and say "I didn't really do anything", don't try and push the blame on me.

You've got it mixed up. I said Godshelp was going to be spending his first day rearranging all the items at this rate, since that was what he had told me he had been doing. I only mentioned "sabotaging" when I said when it came to be my turn again I was going to mess up the inventory to piss off Godshelp in a light-hearted manner. I also mentioned that from the sounds of Godshelp's initial descriptions of where he was ("on a mountain somewhere, lol") that he was not in the local vicinity of the dungeon.

What perplexes me more is why you decided now was the time to respond in such a fashion, since we had that conversation more than a week ago.

Misunderstanding number 1:
I only mentioned "sabotaging" when I said when it came to be my turn again I was going to mess up the inventory to piss off Godshelp in a light-hearted manner.
The way I read that in Steam chat is that you were going to screw up the inventory before passing it to ME, because I somehow screwed up Godshelp's game.

Number 2:
I never got to really do anything. Had to reformat at the beginning so I didn't bother anymore.
I read that in relation to the above. I thought Godshelp was saying "reformat" as in he had to rearrange the inventory and fix a bunch of things because I screwed it up. Thus losing the will to go on. You can see how I confused that because he said "at the beginning".


All this + a long and horrid day caused the above outburst. Sorry bout that.

Well anyway, after the fire had died out I set to work on finishing the small stone camp I had been setting up right on the roof of the dungeon. It took a fair amount of blood sweat and tears but within time I had it in working condition, and named it Camp Dicksoup.

So that it would be a bit easier to re-find once I went back on my adventure, I created a large beacon/observation tower lined with torches to mark the spot.

With my work for the day finished, I placed a sign on one of the walls in the camp, marking my achievements thus far. Since some people prefer to just play and not post anything like this on the forums, this may be an easy way to tell how far we've come since the beginning, and mark the passage of people at Camp Dicksoup.

So today I decided I would find a way out of the Ascension Woods. After successfully travelling in a circle for ten minutes, I decided on going in a straight line. Surprisingly, it worked, and I found myself not only out of the woods but also right next to the bridge I'd made to the desert island before I'd died during my first run-through.

I made it back to the bridge house thing and found some of the supplies I'd wisely left in a chest before my fatal foray into the desert.

I made myself a small bed and then slept until day. What greeted me in the morning was a strange culmination of ruins:

After this little endeavour I heard one of those weird dungeon noises while I was walking over one of the giant pyramids. I dug down and soon enough found the Wastelands Dungeon.

Which was dark.

And I died.

Alot.

On one of my many treks back I noticed a giant cave on the side of the desert island. I'll hopefully get a chance to investigate it tomorrow.

Today I had my sights set on getting the dungeon over and done with. I used the shit load of iron I'd acquired to create a bunch of new tools and armour, as well as a spare of each.

The trip to the Desert Island is simple enough, but can take a minute or two. By the time I'd almost gotten there the sun was setting.

I fought my way through the hordes of nasties lurking around the desert ruins and hastily made my way inside the pyramid. This time I had a fair amount of torches, so I set out to make the area a little more friendly.

I took the Super Deluxe Single Ladder System down as far as it went, then continued to build it further down. Soon enough I hit the bottom level, where I was greeted with a charming face:

Luckily the lava pit fended off most of the Creepers for me, so I was able to take each spawner on one at a time. I found some diamond leggings in a chest and one of the digits required to change the spawn to "heaven". Perhaps getting there should be our end goal?

Anyway, I made it back up to the surface, packed up all the stuff worth carrying back to Camp Dicksoup, blew up the stairway down to the dungeon with TNT, sealed off the entrance, put down a sign warning to go no further, and made a little sign on the pyramid in the same spirit as Jake's:

Once I'd reached the camp, it quickly became apparent that I didn't have any space for all of the stuff I'd brought back. I decided to make an extension of sorts, one which could be filled with chests and be made bigger to suit our needs:

I began my journey at Camp Dicksoup, a small but fine camp. I stocked up on weapons, tools, armor and food before going on what I thought was going to be a long journey to another dungeon where I would build another home.

I decided to venture deep into the rustic dungeon. Found out, many MANY creepers live in there. Blew most of the lower dungeon to pieces. Still have more to explore.

Next I decided to explore the area a bit. Didn't find much as it was already near night. Once night hit, I began heading back... But... I saw a poor... trapped chicken. :(

After getting back home and sleeping until day, I went to go see the landmark FilButch had shown. I noticed I could see the large hole that a creeper blew up in the rustic dungeon while I was down there.
