um this is basically a story ive written, its one page but this is only a small bit of it because I want to see if people like it before I write the rest here.
Jason trudged down the cracked paver's wondering why exactly he had signed up to do the early morning shift at the deli. You'll get extra money he said, I'll pay double he said. Jason laughed bitterly at the thought, Toni paying double, he would sooner cut off his own fingers than pay double. Still, thought Jason, if I want the cash I gotta pay the price. Of getting nothing. Jason laughed bitterly again at his own joke, kicking a can across the deserted street. Then it hit him, where was everybody, this street was usually packed full of cars even at this time of day. Probably sleeping in like I should be, he thought. Again he laughed and continued his way to the deli, but he was in no rush and his pace resembled that of a person walking there final steps.
It was six by the time he got there and the first rays of sun were entering the world, still cold though and Jason shivered as he opened up the shops steel-glass door. Yawning, he walked around to the back, avoiding the the food racks and switching on all the lights as he went. He then sat on a chair, opened a bottle of beer and waited for the customers to come rolling in, early morning harbored a lot of strange buyers of items. A thumping sound awoke Jason as if someone had doused him with water, the beer bottle smashing to the ground. Jason blinked a couple of times as they became accustomed to the light, as he looked into the rising sun he realized something.
"Oh crap, I fell asleep!" Jason yelled, dark thoughts of being fired flooding into the darkest corners of his mind.
Jason bolted up right as though an electric current ran through him and he ran with all his speed into the customer service area, "Hello and welcome to Toni's..." There was no one in the shop. Relief was Jason's first thought then furious anger. Damn it, it must have been those kids again thought Jason. Then the dull repetitive thumping started again, like a strange heart beat, Jason looked around the shop seeing no source of that annoying sound... Wait what was that, Jason's observant eyes shot towards the window at the far end of the deli, there appeared to be something hitting its head on the window. Then the thudding stopped, Jason flung his hand down onto the the button which activated the stores outer lights and a horrific sight was seen.
"Oh fu-," Jason didn't manage to finish is sentence as the human shaped thing launched itself through the deli window, screaming as it did so.
Jason's hand shot down underneath the shops hard-wood counter for the magnum style revolver as the other man jumped at him, his solid red eyes filled with insane hate. The piece of metal made a solid thunk as it collided with the mans head sending him flying into a nearby food rack, burrito packets crashing to the floor. Jason's hands slammed down onto the shops small vault and hastily spun the wheels combination, panic surging through him. The crazed man screamed in hate as he finally manage to get up and wasting no time rammed Jason. The tall boy screamed as he was sent careening into a nearby wall by the mad man, his gun sliding across the floor along with the contents of the safe. Without a time to rest Jason was again being attacked buy the man who seemed to have limitless stamina and a thirst for his death. Screaming Jason flung his hands wildly out and by some chance he gouged out the insane mans left eye. Screaming more so than ever he was sent sailing into a freezer a door by a lucky kick. Jason took this chance to grab his gun from the blood sodden floor. As the phsychotic man rose from the floor Jason turned to face him, aiming his gun at the shadow of a human.
"Freeze or I swear I will blow a hole through your head so large..."
The man stood there facing him and Jason realised there didn't seem to be any intelligence behind its eyes, only madness. Then it ran at Jason with a crazy desire and Jason snapped out of his chance and with regret for the mans life, he fired. The bullet had driven a solid hole into the mans right chest and for a few seconds the beast stood there and all the madness drained out of him like his life blood. Jason lowered his gun and watched the man fall, wondered how lucky he was, he had only managed to load one bullet from the safe into the gun and there had been no guarantee that it would have been first.
Jason shook his head and walked to the body of the fallen man, froth covered his mouth and his eyes were now a pinkish color from the blood loss. Rabies, thought Jason sadly, but rabies doesn't affect humans... How did this happen. Jason turned around and started searching the floor for lost ammo, he didn't know if he would need it but its better to be safe than sorry. Jason reached into his jeans and pulled out his cell phone, dialing in 911 he sat on the in a chair and waited for it to be answered; it didn't. This served to frighten Jason but he reasoned that phone lines could be down; it was a rough neighbor hood. He rang his parent's house, no answer, his grandparents, no answer. Jason swallowed and put his phone back in his jeans. Calm down Jason, he thought, every things fine. He walked into the back room and switched on the portable TV, first he checked the news, no signal, channel ten, no signal, channel eight, no signal, the emergency broadcast channel that was supposed to be online at all times, no signal.
Then he heard it, rhythmic thumping and groans; Jason's muscles cramped up in fear and he slowly drew his revolver...
