My high school had it where if either party gets into a fight, even if the other side doesn't throw a punch, both get suspended. Was pretty stupid.

A suspension isn't that big of a deal. It's great he stood up for himself and he made the correct decision, but suspensions happen. The bully and his friends probably aren't done with him, and this might even be protection for this Casey person as a 1 on 1 situation might not happen next time.

Sticking both children in the same building the next day isn't that great of an idea, but I suppose it's just a delay of the inevitable.


Edit: Also, I think he was only suspended for 4 days, while the bully about a month.

Really, sticking up for yourself is the best thing to do, also, with people around you (most of the time), they should tell what happened and suspend the one who reportedly caused it in the first place (the first punch/insult/etc.) and if the kid sticking up for himself throws a punch back, he shouldn't get punished, for he didn't want to throw a punch in the first place.

Maybe it is because he is scrawny and small. It seemed like this was the first time Casey fought back against this sort of thing. The little shit probably saw that Casey does not defend himself so he thought he would be able to get away with it. It doesn't help that those young girls were right there. He was obviously trying to impress them as well.

Perhaps he has a terrible life at home. This is true for many bullies. They get treated badly at home so they take it out on everyone else. I suppose we should feel sorry for these ones. And I would if they didn't take it out on innocent children that have never harmed anyone in their lives.

Bullies tend not to be the Alpha most of the time, from what I've seen. If anything, they just end up as a separate little social circle from the 'cool' kids. It's the head of the 'cool' kid social circle that's usually a proper Alpha.

Well, atleast at my school, if we see bullies, most of us bully the bully, in the non-violent way, but gang beat w/words.

And maybe some girls (Pop. girls) just like being with the male dominant against every single other person.

The way schools handle these situations is utterly retarded. It teaches children to not defend themselves when they are assaulted.

Especially in this situation where there is known footage of the assault. Casey deserves to have his permanent record cleared of this incident and a formal apology from the principal and the school board.

Real life:
guy assualts you, you knock his teeth out. you walk into court, you're scot free, the other guy gets jail time for assault.

School:We're here to teach you "real" life applications and such...
guy punches you, you knock him out, both get punished.(although you can drag it to court and win there)

the system is trying to make fighting back a "bad" choice, but some times people need to be knocked the fuck out so they can get the message...and hopefully anyone else that's thinking about screwing with you.
