Will Smith is gonna bust a rap on you. The ending was rather stupid, but the movie portrayed his insanity from 3 years of isolation quite well. An excellent thriller in my own opinion.

Its From the prespective of the people with the video camera. And they dont know compleatly whats going on during the whole movie... so you dont eather. You never find out where the monster comes from or what happens to it. Its from when they turn the video camera on till they get bombed and die... Only one of them survives possibly.. but your not sure.

The monster as far as i could tell (you never saw the whole thing at once) was a massive spider / squid lol. With little bug things (Y).

OK. About the monster. It's not Cthulu, it's not a Minotaur, it's not a dinosaur. It's way bigger than any of them. The face is scaly, and looks somewhat human and has red eyes. Completely red.

The officer calls in to lt them know another body has been found but as soon as he does, a car smashes right into him from the sky in what's one of the most brutal kills in a movie I've ever seen. They all look up. The Time Warner building is completely demolished and another roar is heard in the distance

They start walking back to the detainment center and hear strange fluttering noises. They see something, but this time HUD doesn't turn around. They all just run. Marlena says she can't run anymore after a while. Hawk and Lil grab on to her and Marlena drags her feet behind them. They finally get back to the detainment center. Marlena's vomitting and crying blood, hunched over, and we can vaguely see some movement in her stomach. The hazmat guys drag her away quickly. Rob and Beth get a moment to hug and HUD asks Lil what she and Marlena saw behind them. Lil shakes her head and we can hear screaming. HUD pans over to the tarp/curtain Marlena is behind. As he does, we can hear a police report over a walky talky saying "IT'S IN TIMES SQUARE, TIMES SQUARE! GO NOW!" and enforcement runs past HUD who now sees Marlena expanding. She pops and whatever's left of her body falls to the floor. As soon as it does, something rises up and attacks one of the hazmat guys, chewing completely through his neck. The other officers shoots at whatever this 'thing' is and it just jumps from the other officer's body on to his. The remaining "Slusho 7" high tail it. Marlena is dead.

As they do, a seriously loud crash can be heard. The monster is down and out. They stop to look and HUD zooms in on its face. Scaly, vaguely human, emotionless, large penetrating red eyes.

They get back to the apartment which is completely demolished. Windows, everything. Lil and Hawk walk around trying to call other people from the party. No one answers. Lil breaks down and says she can't believe two of her best friends have died in one day. "At least that thing is dead," Hawk says and holds her. HUD makes a break for the bathroom and we follow him in. He takes a *beep* shooting himself in the bathroom mirror. He's laughing over the fact that he's in the bathroom taking a video of himself *beep* From underneath the lens we can see blood trickling down. HUD pulls the camera away, refocuses it and see blood dripping from his eye. HUD gets up, pulls up his pants and goes into where the living room used to be. They're huddled around someone from the party who was trapped in the apartment. (she looks a lot like Marlena but isn't) She's crying blood like Marlena. They look over and see HUD crying blood as well. HUD's fading fast and Rob and Beth run over to him. The camera goes down to HUD's feet and splashes of blood are smattering on the floor. The camera comes back up, and the woman from the party is expanding. Lil and Hawk get up to run but only Lil makes it away. The woman pops. Small monsters that look reptilian jump out and attack Hawk. HUD starts to expand now. Rob and Beth run for one closet while Lil runs for another. Hawk and HUD are dead, but not before Rob can grab HUD's cam. .


First real clear shot of the monster. It looks possessed, angry, *beep* crazy. Its teeth look like machetes and its eyes are now a darker red than before..

He grabs it before it does and starts his "My name is Robert Hawkins" jargon. "Everyone's dead," he says. He pans the camera over to Beth, then back to himself and says "As far as I can see, we're the only ones who have survived. But if you found this..." Beth takes the camera away from Rob and sets it down. A few moments of Beth nursing Rob's injuries. Suddenly they can hear the monster approaching them, shaking the ground, yadda yadda. It gets closer and Beth screams. Rob embraces her. The camera's battery dies. End of movie...

And that's the movie, according to him... I'm still gonna wait till I see it for myself, or atleast until my friend tells me, who went to see it tonight, what its about.

*MASSIVE SPOILER* (Saw this last night and it was reeeaally good, but they should've expanded it for atleast half an hour, or cut half an hour out of the beginning)

In the end, Rob and Beth survive (it might not look like it, but at the end of the credits you can hear Rob saying 'we're unlive' under the rubble of a bridge). Lily may have survived, but her chopper might have crashed as well.

Hud gets ripped in half by a massive bat like creature (the main creature thing)

Milena (the best character) gets bitten by one of the giant creatures spawn, and she explodes and dies unfortunately.

this movie was pretty exciting in the action bits, but it didnt have enough of them

ANYWAY, I saw Cloverfield, I thought it was excellent. At some points I was so absorbed that I forgot that I was watching a movie.

Though other people watched it for other things and were very disappointed that there wasn't any back story. I enjoyed the movie for what it was. That being; escapism.

I preferred it over 'I Am Legend', the Deus Ex Machina (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deus_ex_machina) absolutely destroyed it for me.

Went and saw Cloverfield last night... As soon as it started, I hated it... But within about 15 minutes, I started enjoying it, and it got better and better. Really exciting, even if they characters make some dumbass decisions.

Though, once I got out of the theatre, I started to dislike the movie more and more. I started thinking, &quot;WTF did I just get outta that movie, aside from a headache?&quot;. We found out like, NOTHING about the monster... I mean, looking back, it was like they just pulled the idea for the movie out of their asses. Monster attacks randomly, people run/die, film ends. You don't even know what happens to the monster...

Also, towards the end of the movie... there was a scene, where it showed Rob and Beth, and the camera was aimed out at the beach.. did anyone else see the thing fall into the ocean? Out on the right side of the screen, you could see something fall down into the water. Got me thinking, considering the first thing to go was that big boat. Neither of my friends saw that thing splash into the water..

Now if you have noticed, AT ALL, that the WHOLE movie was based on a first person perspective. As in, seeing what the guy saw. Now, I dont know about you, but if I was walkin around with those spider like fucking things comin after me and a fucking huge ass motherfucking monster destroying NYC I would just run instead of goin around and asking what the fuck that is.
But I agree though, I wouldve liked to know some more about the monster. Other than when those little fuckers bite you, you get like a parasite inside you and it blows out of your stomach. And the monster looked pretty cool also. Pretty sad when it ate the camera guy, doug or something like that. And the ending was sad also.
If they made a number two to Cloverfield it would be kinda tough, since everything was in the perspective of those handful of people.
Good movie though, 5/5

I didnt want to see it cause I thought it would suck for a movie being in FP, but it ended up really REALLY good. Made it seem like you were right there while everything was happening. The ending was sad though... and the monster looked bad ass

I disagree, I think that the arrival of the girl was a total Deus Ex Machina. Will Smith was in a total 'no-win' situation, then out of nowhere she came and saved the day. Awefully convenient huh?

It's probably not as bad as a Deus Ex Machina like in War of the Worlds, but it is still in the category nonetheless.

Undoubtedly the author wrote himself into a horrible corner and had no other options to get himself out. It follows that the end was also abrupt and somewhat destroyed by this new character too...
