For those that don't know Resident Evil Outbreak 1 an 2 for the PS2 were kind of similar to this. Survive a zombie outbreak by teaming up with 3 other people online an all. I'm curious how many people interested in L4D also played those games. Since I enjoyed them a lot an when I saw L4D even though it was a FPS I still wanted it badly. Just because Outbreak wont ever get another sequel.
I will say one of my favorite things to do in that game though was to go lone wolf an leave the group. I always enjoyed surprising them by turning up later with tons of weapons when they probably figured I was dead by then lol. Doesn't sound like I can do that in this though since besides the boss attacks disabling you your team can see where you are anyway. I'm also a tad dissipointed that unlike Outbreak it seems to be about nothing but getting to the end of the stage with no key items to look for an stuff. But then again the first level of Oubreak was like that an it was very popular for a while.
On the bright side this does have two things I always wanted in Outbreak. Being a randomized enemy spawn system and a playable monster side. Since becoming a zombie in Outbreak was pretty crappy. Still managed to occasionally get revenge on stupid teammates though.

My brother got me RE:O for Christmas because he knows how much I'm waiting for Left 4 Dead. ^^ Unfortunately there is no online service for the first game anymore and tbh, I didn't like the gameplay that much. The bots are just stupid and the controls are giving me a headache. :/

Yeah I know they took down servers for the second one. Didn't know they took down the first one's servers but I wouldn't be surprised if they had by now as well. It's definitely not a game you would want to play too much in the singleplayer mode since the AI is stupid. Trust me Online mode made it 1000 times more fun.
An yeah lots of people ***** about classic style RE controls. They take getting used to but its what makes dodging the zombies fun to me. Once you were good with them you didn't even need a weapon except to kill the boss's.

was one of my favorite games for ps2, very very entertaining ecsepcially when you have a group of friends playing with you. i loved the outbreak scenario, by far one of the best. i alos like desperate times in file two. i hope they make a new outbreak for ps3, that would be sweet.
however i think that left 4 dead and dead islands multiplayer woill be far more exciting.

I rented the second Outbreak twice, and it was fun. I like the original RE controls the most. Of course, even RE4 still has those controls just remixed slightly and the aiming is more accurate.
It would be nice if there was a game, with classic RE controls that was like the classic RE minigames were. You just go through shooting monsters, but I would want to see RE style zombies, AvP style aliens, Jurassic Park style spitting dinosaurs, and the Big Daddies from Bioshock all in there, that would be awesome XD
As for you Sifer2, it sounds like you mostly want a cooperative adventure game. If Left 4 Dead had more story and exploration maybe (mod?)
Maybe Imogene's mod could be more adventurous...

Well yeah that kind of a fun thing about Outbreak was it had a storyline to it more or less. Though I hated the freaking cutscenes that required everyone to press start to skip lol. One person might decide to go to the bathroom an now I got to watch this cutscene I have seen hundreds of times over again. If I had control of that game I would have let hosts disable them but ah well.
Also you know Outbreak File 2 did have a minigame where you just went around killing monsters. The goal was to hunt them down an kill all of them before time was up. It also had a boss battle mode which was pretty popular.
Really though if people never got to play it online then im afraid you just didn't really play it an cant judge it. It was just a totally different experience online with real people either trying to help you or just deciding to leave you for dead lol. I really hope the see through walls thing can be disabled in Left 4 Dead too. Since its very exciting not knowing where your team is or if they are even still alive. I used to go off solo getting keys an stuff then I might get back to the main area an find the whole team dead on the floor lol. Or sometimes just one person left an they would be so happy to see me spamming my name :P.

I loved outbreak but for some reason I like RE: Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii even though it is a lightgun game
hooray for zombies

RE: Umbrella Chronicles
pardons for the off-topicness, but I'm playing this too, and there is something immensely satisfying about pulling off 5 critical headshots in a row (For those who don't know, in RE:UC headshots are done on the forehead only, so getting one on a far off, swaying zombie takes quite a bit of effort)

Yes. Because I was so tired of playing Resident Evil alone.

I loved the concept, the game played like a bucket of yuck. The ai was just dumber than the nails you shoot at zombies. They would just start whining and crying and were annoying as hell. Other than that, good game!

The concept was indeed nice. I would love to see a hybrid of Left 4 Dead and RE:O, perhaps with each character having unique abilities that can help you progress along your way, and a certain degree of having to accomplish mini-objectives (gather an item, flip a switch, solve a puzzle, etc.) instead of just a straight run from point A to point B.

Yeah this would be my hope as well. Since I don't think Capcom will be making another Outbreak im just going to move on to this game to satisfy my co-op zombie survival needs. An it would be nice to get the more fun aspects of Outbreak in this at some point.
Oh an the mutant elephant was funny if nothing else. Always funny to see someone get yanked out the window by him an instant killed. Or stomped on. Which happened to me once in boss battle an I felt dumb.

I actually loved these games, I always looked like a cripple trying to put a fire out with a screw driver while playing it, but me and my friend both picked up a copy and would just play and talk using the phone. Because one of the hugest flaws in that game was communication. But over all if you at all enjoyed original RE games, than the online version of this game was wicked. (I was pissed when I bought file 2 only to find out they removed the online)

Get enough people to play an keep it up an running? I think that was a fan made rumor. Unless your talking about the Japanese version which is still operating since it was always pay to play. I just didn't feel like buying all the Japanese equipment for it an was kind of holding out for a next-gen version. But im losing hope for that one now.
