I enjoy this pay model a lot. The "play for free, but buy some items/upgrades/stuff with real money" is a VERY popular system in Korea and some other countries. Some people don't like it, but my experience with a game called Exteel made me realize how cool it could be.
Play it all you want for free, and if you don't like it much, that's fine, don't pay a cent. If you DO really like it, then you can pay for some cool new stuff, but only what you want.
As for TF2 similarities, well yeah, I hope so. If everybody liked TF2 so much, wouldn't you want more games to go in that direction?

DICE screwed up BF2 and BF2142 so I can only imagine what they will make next. I only bought BF2 anyways.

Oh lol...
I don't mind them copying other games as long as they deliver a good product.
Hmm, BF2 + TF2 = potentially awesome? ^_^

But it's free!
So is America's Army, another triple-A title.

I wonder if they have like cars, tanks, planes too. I never fully got a hang of flying in BF2 but I always dream to be like "planew0re": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnjfuhUCyK4 I got a joystick as well. I mean the game had everything and then it became this buggy, stat wh0re game. Watch this series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfYxYgwdXX8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8u2K2J7whI&feature =related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8u2K2J7whI&feature=related)
*This one time I did amazing though. I was a co-pilot on Gulf of Oman on the MEC side:

Must have been the last time I played and I'm hool10 btw.
There is a very big catch since this is EA we're talking about, the catch might be over-powerful weapons/huge upgrades being available to those who pay for them and ingame pop-up ads.
EA is well known for its greediness -_-

That's pretty low...however, I'm curious as to what it really looks like! I want some screenshots!

"The existing Battlefield games are fairly deep; you have to be pretty good or you'll die pretty quick," Mr. Florin said Friday in a telephone interview from Geneva. "Now we've toned down the difficulty, shortened each game session to 10 or 15 minutes and made the visual style more cartoony."
Great. Zero depth, then.

I don't think they will put as much effort into this one as compared to the other BF games. I mean, it came out of nowhere and they want to release it this summer? Sounds like they want to do some quick money an jump on the train of those "Play 4 Free" games.

Hopefully it's not as laggy as TF2, which is my only complaint about that game. Of course it's coming from EA so be prepared for basically a free buggy, beta test.

I wonder if QT likes EA / Battlefield Heroes....
It's just not clear which side he's on.

I'll stick with 2142 and TF2, no need to combine them

Anyone who can afford a computer (capable of playing these games) and an internet connection is able to afford TF2, which is $30.
I would give this game a try when it was released, but I never got into the Battlefield series (because I thought it was boring) and Team Fortress 2 is so, so satisfying, I've no need to play any other class-based FPS.

i should of said that is great for junior high students who can't convince there parents to pay for TF2. or twenty year olds who don't want to get a job.
