NEWS FLASH!

I've watched my fair share of zombie movies, and played the flash games. I've installed mods and read comic books about zombies. I have zombie posters on my wall and tshirts in my dresser. But my jaw hit the floor when I was passed this bit of info!
Variety reports yesterday, that CBS has some new shows coming up that will have us zombie fans barricading ourselves inside our homes every week.

"Looking to create some buzz, CBS will choose from a pilot slate that includes zombie drama, 'Babylon Fields."'

"On the fantasy/sci-fi side, "Babylon Fields" is an hour Tassler describes as " 'Ordinary People' meets 'Day of the Living Dead.' " In other words, yes, there are zombies -- but the show's also about personal relationships, and what happens when the ex-wife you thought was dead suddenly is back in your life."

I hope they do this right. I liked Day of the Dead, and after reading The Walking Dead graphic novels I did think to myself that a dramatic scifi T.V. series could work with zombies real well. I'll keep my eyes out for more news on the topic.

on an unrelated note of equally cool scifi horrorness: CBS also has a new show called Demons, it's going to be a little like that Keanu movie where he fights demons, except it's a priest and hes black (played by Micheal from Lost, I'd look his name up but if you cared who he was you probably know from that anyway).

until next time!

Uuuuh... so is it more drama than action? I really want a cool zombie killing show.

im sure it has its action.. i would hope the show structure is like Battlestar Galactica. some action about the fight against the zombies mixed with episodes about the mythos (cause of the plague, cure) some episodes about society (law and order) mix in the love triangle and maybe a band of marauding criminals that base 2 days away by foot or something. and then blamo you have a long running series with zombies and all the stuff that you need to write twists and turns and create a good show.

Zombified Polar Bears.
=O
if that ever happens, we are doomed.

update:

found this disturbing tidbit:
"The premise of the show has resurrected dead people, working at normal jobs. Michael Cuesta will direct from a teleplay by Michael Atkinson and Gerald Cuesta."

i dont like where this is headed.

i agree, ill still tune in to see if im wrong. but id like a serious zombie drama scifi on tv.. if they can have BSG, SG1, Lost, and heros they sure as hell could have Dawn of the Dead the show. or 28 days later the show. seriously... let someone take a stab at it, it would work,

Pickup -- "Babylon Fields," an hourlong zombie-themed hour described by CBS as a "sardonic, apocalyptic American comedy-drama where the dead are rising and as a result, lives are regained, families restored and old wounds reopened." Gerald Cuesta and Michael Atkinson wrote the pilot and will serve as supervising producers. Michael Cuesta, who directed the pilot for "Dexter," will exec produce and helm via 20th Century Fox Television.

Comedy-drama? Something tells me this ain't gonna be pretty.

hooray for zombies
