squerl

It's being released on May 11th.. coming out soon! If you haven't seen the original you really should, it seems like Left 4 Dead is using it as a source of inspiration. The graphic novel 28 Days Later: The Aftermath which explains what happened after the first movie will be released sometime around April 4th I believe, which gives us more material to help us waiting!

[SPOILER]

Apparently it's going to be set in France - trust them to be overrun by zombies.

They probably tried to surrender to the zombies and got infected and eaten alive in the process. LOL, utterly pwned.

Is there definately another one coming out? Where did you hear about this? And is Danny Boyle directing it? That would be awesome. I preferred 28 Days Later even though, in my opinion, 28 Weeks Later has the greatest opening to any film I have ever seen. Really gets you in the mood! Arg!

They left it so open at the end of 28 weeks that there has to be another.

EDIT: Found this on Wiki....

<div class="quote">In March 2007, Boyle announced plans to create a third chapter of the film franchise, which will be given the title 28 Months Later with a 2009 release date, thus creating a trilogy. Boyle has stated that his thoughts are to set the movie in Russia.

In June 2007, it was announced that if DVD sales of the film did well Fox Atomic would consider producing the third film.

In July 2007, while promoting the film Sunshine, Boyle revealed that he has a story formulating for the next film &quot; There is an idea for the next one, something which would move [the story] on. I've got to think about it, whether it's right or not.&quot; Boyle also revealed that he would return as the director. Alex Garland might be considered in writing the story with Boyle, but no announcements have been made.</div>

That makes me... Really happy! I love those films! Russia though? How did the infection get there from the UK? That's a fair bit away... Either way, I am sure it will be awesome!
And on second thoughts, it's 28 months later, so I suppose there is a very good chance the infection would get to Russia by then...
Yes!

And thanks for the info :D

No worries. Also, the entire idea behind the movie is that it was the UK that was infected and therefore, being an island, it was contained. I guess the chunnel would have to be blocked. So with the virus moving overseas to Europe it leaves the entire planet open to infection with the possible exception of Australia.

What about US? Japan? They would surely be ok unless infected got on a boat or something...

AzH
01-13-2008, 12:22 AM
Ahh yes, Japan. But North America is joined to the extreme of Northern Europe by the polar ice-cap. Theorising that the infected in 28 are not killed by cold, they may be able to make the transition....

There are, but you misunderstood, I think. The polar icecap creates a bridge, if you like from the north coast of Russia to the north coast of Canada.

dudes..... you have forgotten that that virus die in like 40 days or something
when it run out of &quot;fresh host&quot; its dead

No Shelter
01-13-2008, 05:41 AM
Did they say that? I thought they knew little of the virus? Cause when the host dies I thought the virus could still live inside the body. Also, why would it be in France? It would just be a ghost town and no one there, no outbreak. Why? Cause its 28 Months Later, not RIGHT after 28 weeks.

Master_Bungle

Why? Cause its 28 Months Later, not RIGHT after 28 weeks.
Those were my thoughts! I wonder what the storyline would be... I would imagine after 2 years, considering how fast it took out Britain, everywhere would be infected...
Got that right. I'm in the UK.
Me too! Where abouts?
But yeah, I think I did misunderstand you about that polar ice cap thing... I was stupidly unaware of that...
In 28 Days Later: Aftermath (or whatever it is), apparently one of the scientists who was responsible for the rage virus believes that the virus could mutate... Never know, imagine it brought dead infected back to life as mutants!! That would be cool too... And if some of them had really long tongues and some of them were really fat and full of methane! What an original and great idea. That would make a good game...

Sorry, meant to quote someone else. Meant to quote AzH (At least I hope so cause I just edited it to quote him... I would look very silly then!!).
The post was on the last page, so I quote you on this page (But should have quoted AzH) and copied and pasted what AzH posted on the previous page over what I quoted from you on this page... If that makes sense...
Sorry for the mistake anyway. Seems I bungled my post... Hehe....

Right, at the end of the first film, they survived by hiding out in a remote farm cottage in Northern Scotland (they got buzzed by a Swedish Norwegian Air Force Jet), there were shots of the infected dieing by starvation of dehydration (due to infected not eating or drinking, they just want to kill due to the Rage virus). The virus could theoretically continue to live on but would need oxygenated blood to keep pumping around and it would have to be transferred by body fluid transfer (possibly open wound coming into contact with infected blood or, if your really kinky, nailing said corpse). The infected were dying off 28 weeks (or was it days?) after the surviviors escaped from the mansion, so you could hole yourself up for a good 6 months and most infected would have died off.

It could spread around the world pretty easily if (spoiler alert!) the boy from 28 Weeks Later, who contracted the virus but did not develop symptoms, passed on the infection to others like him and they flew to the US and accidentally started it all over again, just the must of done when he was taken by the US Army heli to France.

Also, the infected are still only human, so they would probably freeze before they even got anywhere near the polar ice caps.

Ok, i've put waaaay too much thought into this.

At the end of 28 Weeks Later, do you not see the helicopter crashed? Maybe the kid somehow infected his sister and the helicopter crashed and one of them survived, but was infected, and spread the infection? Meh... What about that tunnel that leads to France? Yeah. Some of them have natural immunities to the virus, but still carry it, and so are infectious.
