View Full Version : 360 Coop?

I've done a search for this, but so far I've turned up nothing. Has it been said whether or not the 360 version will allow two or more players to play on one Xbox 360? As well as guests over Live?
A lot of games advertise coop play, but end up making it Live only; which is really irritating.

There is no reason it should not be in. If TRS does not include it. FAIL.

"maybe" means "we're focusing on the pc version right now. The 360 version may simply have live only online, but if we have the time, we'll put in splitscreen coop. The 360 version is basically a port anyway."

Personally I will be playing on the pc, but i remember back in the day when i didnt have a nice pc and i relied on consoles for gaming, so many games didnt have split-screen that would have been really fun if they did. I'm hoping the 360 gets it

well we never know, this could be the reason the game went way off its original expected Q1 2008 release. mike booth answers emails i noticed as he answered 3 of my emails that i sent so this means that they do notice what the fans want in the game and probly feel that it was best to put it off so they can add all the features that we want. i bet they have a finished game already (probly a few bugs though) and are just adding/testing new features. i expect that it will have splitscreen though cause i dont see why a co-op game wouldn't have offline co-op.

Yeah my tv is 36", I cant handle two players on the same screen. I just want to see this game on 360 period. It's like a government secret right now.

Oh really? Why is it that I've been playing coop games on consoles for years now and if they could not figure out the code to put it in that is a failure in my eyes. If 360 coop is one of the things holding them up from releasing it I say just release the PC version when it's ready and then release the 360 version when it's done; like, four player coop done. It's not like anyone is asking for a Halo 3 type movie and screenshot program in the game.

So you're saying that you've previously played a game that had to process up to 40 enemies onscreen with procedural AI, and you've played coop on it? Fascinating.

They really should because it is a coop game, and not being able to play locally and with guests would take away some fun. so people without live may not want to buy it if their playing alone...

totally agree. i dont even own a 360 and i almost despise them, but this is a very true statement and unless there is a full-fledged story mode, then only ppl with live will get the game most likely. but in the other thread someone said they are gonna put in 2-person splitscreen

as much as i wish for that to happen (and i think the PC version is most likely done anyways) it probably wont be released before the 360 version. they get more sales if they release it at the same time instead of spreading it out a few months. plus, you'll have a lot of angry 360 owners pissed that they have to wait while the PC owners are having all the fun.

I agree with your statement from agreeing with mine... If that makes since. And split screen would be great, I have xbox live, yet some of my friends don't so if they come over, it would be one extra thing to do. And if you didn't have live, and couldn't play splitscreen, why would you buy it except like you said about the full fledged story mode

their definently going to put the same amount of effort in both platforms.
why wouldnt they? the 360 orange box sold more than the pc one

This Sir Booth sounds very dedicated, but if he does put as much effort into the port as he did to the PC version, don't expect the 360 version to come out this fall. The 360 port of World in Conflict is coming out this Fall, a full year after the PC release, which was rather sweet, mind you.

Valve would be stupid NOT to put in splitscreen. L4D is almost perfect to have splitscreen on. Also if they are putting in split screen they might as well put in four player splitscreen. If you are implementing two player split screen you might as well make it 4 player split screen, one screen for each survivor or infect etc.

Right, but as Horray for Zombies mentioned, it would be a huge task for the X Box 360 to handle and would require significant tweaking of the game. The 360 version may not be ready to your specifying demands by September. That's all I'm saying.

wrong (http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/36952/The-Orange-Box-1-5-Million-Console-Sales-Significantly-More-On-PC)
PC outsold 360 and PS3 combined. PC will always come first for Valve. thinking otherwise is just plain wrong :)
valve is one of the few great companies we got left, don't take that from us

The 360 can handle 4 players running around killing 30+ AI run NPCS in very large areas in Halo 3 all on just one console. I think it can handle L4D.

hmm, good comparison......and also all armors on enemies and objects in halo 3 have reflectiveness to them, so yeah now that I think about it that way it should be able to handle it fine.

Well, there's 40 NPC's in L4D+Advanced Shading (Rim shading etc.) and Dynamic shadows.

Also the fact that they record every second of every match so I definatly think they can ahlde 4 player coop.
