Wow, I downloaded 3DMark06 yesterday... Nice coincidence.
My benchmark score is 2150. I'm using a 2 year old notebook, but that's going to change until summer.
At stock settings, my 3DMark06 score was 9107.
I've since OC'd the CPU to 3.15GHz (from 2.4GHz) and my score is 9793.
I think I can squeeze another 200MHz out of the CPU, and my RAM is still underclocked and loosened to the max. Might even tweak the vid card a little. I'm confident I can crack 10k when all is said and done.

So....other than Fish's notebook, I'm losing :/
Don't matter too much as I'll be upgrading when L4D is given a release date, then I'll upgrade to a 8800GT or something

8800GTX is what ive got.. awesome card, dont bother with a ultra cos theres like only 5% difference.

I've still not made up my mind, but I'm thinking about holding out closer to L4D release before I buy my card as there'll probably be something even better value at that point. Maybe.

Yea unless there are other games u really want to get/play in super high detail you may aswell wait.. it will be worth every penny to upgrade for Left 4 Dead ;)
Dammit! I've come to the end o' my rope at 9927. I *could* feed the beast more voltage and push it past 10k, but I'm not willing to suffer the heat or the noise. I hope, once I upgrade to Vista and it recognizes my un-utilized 700mb of ram, I'll be rocking out with over 10000.

Last time I ran 3dmark 06 I got about 5200 or thereabouts. (laptop btw)
Yay, 12286 3DMarks. First time I ran this test on my new computer, I remember last time I tried it, everything lagged and I couldn't even run the last test (the one with all snow).

That's a huge damn download to do a benchmark, but what the hell, it's near the end of the month.

I know this thread is old, but why not?
Just benchmarked with my new card... nothing is OC'd and my CPU is only 2.3ghz... but yet I still got:
9943
During the graphics test it rarely dropped below 70fps. :D

Oh, that's cool. Now I can follow up on my first post in this thread. :)
My benchmark score is 2150. I'm using a 2 year old notebook, but that's going to change until summer.
The notebook is already dead, so that's history. It's video chip broke and paying for the repair would have gotten me an entirely new laptop, so I've built a PC with an 8800 GTS 512MB and a C2D E8400 @ 3.00GHz instead.
The score is 12217.

I think if I overclock my CPU to at least 2.9ghz I could break the 10,000 mark. Because that is the only test I did bad at.
whats this supposed to do? dont feel like dling it :P
Its a program you run that performs a series of tests and ranks your system.
There are 4 Graphics Tests, and 2 CPU tests.

Moving to Vista 64bit tomorrow, so just done one last benchmark.
XP (32bit) - 11694
8800GT
Quad 6600
4gb ram
Will let you know of the difference between XP 32 and Vista 64 tomorrow, I'm guessing a slight decrease.

so your 2 more gigs of ram got you 36 more points?
Atari
09-02-2008, 12:35 PM
Hmm I guess so.
Maybe if I was using more applications the difference would be greater? I dunno. I don't have major expensive ram.

Upgraded a few things; RAM, mobo, and CPU.
Significantly the AMD 5200+(3.6Ghz) to the E8400(3.8Ghz)
And got 10-20 more fps on some of the tests.
