Consoles can indeed play betas. There was one for Halo 3 and CoD4. Halo 3 was accessed when you put in Crackdown and played it. Meaning you could do it off of a disk, or, like CoD4, you can download a beta like a demo and access it whenever.

I just want everyone to know that there will indeed be a demo for both the PC and 360. Just don't expect it anytime soon, as more than likely they will be released after the full game itself has shipped. From an Email Booth himself sent me:

Technically they are. They served as both a demo and a beta test. Demo is short for demonstration, which the betas of Halo 3 and CoD4 certainly were. They were multiplayer demos, giving people a taste of what to expect. One might say its not because its not a 100% representation of the final product, but this is flawed as most "real" demos aren't either. You might say they aren't demos because they have an expiration date on them. Its fairly standard for certain games to have a demo in which you can only try it a number of times. Sure, this is mainly a pc thing (and really, only a select few games), but clearly its also a console thing as well. It does happen. Hell, you might even say its not a demo because they were multiplayer only. Well, remember the Farcry demo on the 360? If I remember correctly, that was multiplayer only as well.

Ok, whatever, thats beside the point. I don't think that ValvE, who has NEVER released a demo, OR beta (That I know of) into Xbox Live Marketplace, will release a Left 4 Dead Demo/Beta. The closest thing to a beta ValvE will release will be a week before it comes out, when they let everyone download the full game and play it free until release.

I really REALLY hate political correctness, but from what I can see the game has covered all their bases (an ass-kicking "senior", a middle aged white guy, a black guy, and a woman). Just wondering why every single one of them has black hair? Do the devs hate blonds and redheads? Redheads would work because the game always takes place at night, so you wouldn't need to worry about "daywalker" fluff (south park reference).
