Look at the picture below.

Apparently you can't post GIF images on Forum.

If she is spinning Clock-wise, you are using the right side of your brain.
If she is spinning the opposite way, you are using the left.
If you can see it going both ways (depending on how you look at it), you can switch off between both, and use more brain power then most.

Most people see it going clock-wise. But I can see it going both by simply imagining it going the other way. I think it's pretty cool.

I don't really understand how it works, but I see her spinning clock-wise.

...Whoa.. never mind, I concentrated a bit then she just changed.. thats wicked!

Yay I see both ways I feel special :P

I find it easy to change from Right Brain to Left, but harder to go the other way.

The way I change it is I look at the foot and imagine it going the other way really hard. The boom, I look up and it changes.

I just change it by concentrating a bit, thinking about my right or left arm.

I had her going back and forward, switching up with sides pretty fast :P I feel proud of my self now or something :P

Coolest pic ever! Thanks for the picture, quiet interesting..

Actually if you look very close, she is changing feet, but hey thats just me.

LOL, you guys get fooled too easily. It has nothing to do with using your left or right brain. The image simply changes ever so slightly that you don't notice if you're not paying attention.

Wow, this is so old...

I like watching people think it's magical though... In the end it's a .gif, she does spin in one direction.

This has made the rounds on the net for a while now, it actually doesn't have anything to do with the right and left hemispheres of your brain, it's more to do with your initial perception of the image. if you initially perceive the dancer as moving clockwise, that's how you'll see her. With practice however you can trick your brain into perceiving her as rotating counter-clockwise at will. It's a really neat demonstration on how perception shapes your reality.

I use both sides of my brain you half-brained twit!

*a'hem*

Yeah I've seen that before. I always initially see it clockwise but can switch it by watching her foot.
I don't think it measures what side of the brain you use, I think it's just a neat optical illusion.

i guess i obviously use my left cause she is only spinning counter clock wise for me... omg nevermind it just switched on me. WTF. That is the creepiest thing ever.

Actually i just started to be able to make her bounce back in forth from counter clock to clock and back in a half revolution. Thats pretty wicked.

yep, I tried that and every single time I concentrate on one side of my body she changes.

If you look at it long enough it looks like she's just waving her foot around.

I should hope that people use both sides of their brains.

Otherwise what's the point of having two sides?!

------

In all reality, Left side is associated with Visual-Spacial and Logic Faculties, and Right side is associated with Artsy-Fartsy, Creative stuff.

yeah, my art teacher said that one side is used mostly for non creative thinking like math and the other side is used for creativity.

Sounds like something you'd expect from an arts teacher.

Yeah, actually a long time ago i received it in an e-mail. I simply went by what the E-Mail told me, you may be right. Still pretty cool though.

Lol... I'm not trying to trick anyone here. It doesn't change everytime you refresh, it doesn't trick you.

I'm so baffled.
How is she turning counter-clock wise?
Okay, take a look at the shadow on the ground. You can catch a glimpse of her raised leg traveling from RIGHT to LEFT across the floor. You left-brained people, PLEASE EXPLAIN how that is counter-clockwise?

GAH!

Finally!

After some deep deep concentration, i can get her to go both ways...
Holy Crap..

I've seen this. Pretty interesting. Not sure if it's real though.

It's not about brain-side, it's about which foot you think is on the ground at the time, it can be easy to change if you know that. It's funny, I can make the leg go back and forth without it going behind her (perceptively anyway).

the oly part of my brain that I use, is the part the part that controls my trigger finger.
