New to me

The first games in which Steam Cloud will be implemented are Valve's own Half-Life, Team Fortress 2, and Counter-Strike franchises. Turtle Rock Studios, which Valve acquired in January, will be the first developer to integrate the technology for a new game with Left4Dead, which is slated for release for the PC and Xbox 360 in November.

It's a system that saves all of the preferences on your account to an online server, so that you can log onto your account on your friends computer, and it'd have all of your video/control/audio/etc. settings for your games, and not your friends. Then, your friend logs back on his, and it's his settings.

oh so its like a big save setting online like a library of peoples preferences to the game

Like you're some sort of paragon of the English language, darksora. I remember when you were a spammy 'newb' as well.
As for steam cloud: sounds awesome, but the changing settings thing really isn't that annoying for me. Now for my friend that uses the arrows instead of WASD, I could see some use for it. Remapping keys is never fun.

Yes, all those days ago. Time sure flies, eh?

Imo, this is, maybe not revolutionary, but a fantastic feature. Hope they do it for CoD4 for example. So when I play in net cafés and such, my upranked profile is saved so I can use it to pwn :P

So when I play in net cafés and such
I think that's where this is really gonna win out. Especially if Valve aggressively pursue the Asian markets where most gaming is done in internet cafes. That's why WoW is popular out there (mainly China). They have a 'pay as you play' revenue format because of the gaming culture. Valve could be looking at that kinda action I suppose.

Wow, I really shouldn't have posted this in the "Games" forum, because noobody seems to to read that. Anyways (http://www.left4dead411.com/forums/index.php?action=vthread&forum=4&topic=2414)...
Last month I reformatted my HD and was suprised to see that CoD 4 does not store your data online like the Battlefield series does. Of course I had to start unlocking again. This is such an important feature and it's great that Valve will use it for their own games and offer it to other developers.

Just stick to the topic, QT and DS. This kind of flaming and OT bullshit qualifies you as no0bs, whether you like it or not. So try and rise above and be the better person by just ignoring them and keep on topic. Thank you and go0dnight ;)
And yes, I realize the irony in this reply ;-)

Rofl. Now I don't have to:
Set sensitivity to 20,
Allow console and fast weapon switch
And...

No self-righteous retort, QT?
I was expecting at least a half-hearted "no u"

Some news on Steam Cloud! I read this L4D preview on CVG (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=194147) today. It's about some graphical features the game will have, namely self-shadowed normal mapping. It's an interesting read, but they are treating it like a buzz word. Anyways... Here is a quote:
"Just as Steam Community came into existence a month or two before Team Fortress 2 arrived, L4D will have its arrival preceded by Steam Cloud, a service which will store your save games and configurations online.
This means your campaigns can be saved and resumed from anywhere at any time, even if the friends you were playing with have gone on a holiday."

I bumped this thread with actual content, so I think it's your own fault this time. ;)
