I was wondering how large these...maps?... will be? Think it would take like...half an hour to get free or a couple hours? What are your opinions?

There's four campaigns at release. (scenarios, campaigns, same thing) The hospital campaign is one of these four. In each of these, there are five maps each (separated by checkpoints). The entire hospital campaign depends on how fast you move through it, but yeah 45 minutes to an hour. Hope that makes it more clear.

Awesome, 45 minutes can help with easier to digest game sessions. Is there a lobby? Where everyone chats at the start of a game, and then when everyone is ready they go in? I was just wondering.

We didn't experience anything like that.. you'll be able to just play around and then when everyone comes in just do a vote to restart the scenario.

About 45 minutes to an hour per campaign.
im pretty sure that they said that only if u go really well and like, dont die or fail, so it will probs take a bit more than that if u stuff up, which we all know will happen

Wait new question:
Wouldn't difficulties prolong it to over and hour? I mean it is harder; Lets say your on Insane difficulty, the damage of the infected are more, and tactics become more drastic from the hardcore situation.

An average, successful run shouldn't take much more than an hour on average. The developers usually say about 45 minutes. Obviously if you die you're going to get set back.

watch any video of the hospital campaign. wen u see them reach a red checkpoint door, that is the end of a map. there are 5 maps total in each campaign (5 red doors). so add up the total amount of time it took for them to start the map and end the map and then try to estimate how long it would take you wen u compare your skills to theirs. (for example, if it takes sucky players 15 mins to finish a map, cut that time in half if u think u can do better)
now take that time you have and multiple it by 5. you will have a rough estimate of the length of one campaign.

I disagree... after playing it, it took me a about an hour and a half.. there were a few tech difficulties... but even so, I think even with good players, there will be no "running and gunning" because the director will slap your ass down.
when they said "Movies" they really meant movies.. timing and all.

Yeah this is a very old thread >.>
45 mins to 1 hour if your team is average and doesnt die/explore instead of going to the safehouse.
45 mins I guess would be if an all pro team played.
Even more than an hour means that you're playing with noobs...

In the long run knowing maps inside out would be better, but that takes more time. So exploring is good, but dieing is bad. Explore but don't die in the process.

In Left 4 Dead, exploring mostly gets you killed. :P

Explore as a team then!
In CO-OP there is likely to be members of your team who know things about a map that you don't. So you can work together, When the span of a game is nearly and hour, taking 5 minutes WITH YOUR TEAM to have a look at something probably couldn't do much harm.
Explore in moderation.

From what Ive seen it only take like 30 minutes to complete a campaign, maybe less. Thats based on the developer walkthrough.

Theres only 4 campaigns- Hospital Airport Countryside and Cornfield.
So far we have only been showed Hospital and Cornfield, to my knowledge. I think they showed a bit of the countryside map, but besides that, its just been Hospital and Cornfield in teh gameplay vids.

In the higher difficulties we've been told that things are slowed way down because every single infected becomes a real danger.

And as far as i know none of the journalists ever played it on insade mode (bit to much for a 20 min. try) And ya never hear anything from the playtesters at valve that might have done the game on insane (valve uses the "trust"system for keeping em quiet)

I thought they said that infected have the same amount of health and guns do the same damage, no matter what difficulty. And that the only difference is the relative damage-taking-ability the survivors have. Is that wrong?

On the easiest difficulty, squerl and i had some pretty successful reckless runs. You've played a more recent build though, so we'll see when I get another go :P

so, what, on the first page, ppl kept saying that the campaigns wont last over 45minutes or an hour, and isnt there only 5 campaigns to begin with? that sounds like you can beat left4dead in less than half a day

You can't "beat" Left 4 Dead, you just do a little better each time.

I played through all of the TF2 maps on the day it was released, yet I've still logged hundreds of hours into that game.

haha, we all know you guys are awesome frog!
maybe the build changed the zombies and therefore the time it takes to get through the entire campaign... either way... we tried running and gunning a couple of times, and the director gave us a big slice of "OH NO YOU DON'T... BIATCH!!!"
we got owned.
The team of developers really have the size of the maps to a science, considering that will basically set the time-frame of beating it... I want to start making a scenario, however, even after playing through it, the massive size is just mind-boggleing...
Anyways... I'm totally stoaked for this damn game... 23 days...
