This is really just so amazing... We should all do up some D2 together to prepare! It was stated (either on IGN or diablofans.com) that the witch doctor is NOT a replacement for the Necromancer! YAY! Although I heard there's only going to be 5 classes?! Yeah I don't think so as LoD knocked it up to 7. There better be @ least that many. Male and Female characters ftw tho.

Fuck, they're going to be rolling in the cash come release dates. Hopefully they're not remotely close to each other, or I'm obviously buying D3.

There's only going to be 5 classes according to the IGN interview, and according to diablofans, the Witch Doctor does not replace the Necro, but they also don't know if the Necro is in. It'd be stupid to put him back in though, seeing as how WD has many Necro-like abilities as well.

I hope there's character customization as well. I mean, why not? This is 2008, probably 2009 or 10 (stretch?) when this game finally releases - They can do it, they can do it easily. And my God, and in depth customization thing would be the best way to immerse players into the game. To put more emphasis, I WANT IT! And it's a bitch to realize I probably won't get any news on that for a while, seeing as how the game is in such an early design phase, and I don't even know if Blizzard is considering it.

Things I like so far:

- The numbers, holy crap, there are so many enemies at once! I expect triple that online/coop.
- Upgraded engine, the visuals are stunning. Rag dolls and physics are awesome too.
- Design, I like most of it. The colors need a tweak, and this might just be because it's in an early phase, but they need darker colors, more grit and dirty feel to nearly everything to make it like a Diablo game.
- New UI and controls. Hotbar, yay!
- Positional gameplay looked cool, especially when the Barb started jumping around over enemies to get to the weaker guys.
- Apparent 'random' ('ly generated) adventures/quests sound fun.

as for D3. looking at some of the pics I thought the outside green environments looked too much like WOW, but then I watche the gameplay vids and now I completely love it.....it's so awesome when the boss monster thing like eats the barbarians head and throws his body aside....then with the good physics later his body gets hit away.

I wouldn't compare d2 characters in any form with the d3 characters. paladin is a tank class while the monk seems more like an assist class. the necromancer is heavily based on keeping his minions alive (if you don't play bone-necro) while the witch doctor seems more effective when sacrificing his minions, he also has druid elements. I also don't agree with calling the demon hunter the new amazon, as it clearly seems to be more the assassin. And yeah the wizard has druid elements too.

Imagine the game being all extreme bright, white everywhere and pink on everything. It looked as if what happens when a video card starts to overheat and fry. (Obviously that wasn't the problem as my video card was still fine.)

What's wrong with not being able to distribute attribute points? The game, or let's say your character, is way more individual than before. You can have several different builds of your character by just swapping a few items. In Diablo 2 you had to start a new character for a new build, before the reset-option was introduced. You can make your ranged sorceress a close-combat machine by just swapping the weapons.

Since Diablo always was a heavy item-based game it only makes sense if they go away from attributes and let items build your character.

I understand that people want to play it in LAN and I too hate the fact that it can't be played in LAN, but that's not a reason for me not to buy it. Make money? I'm pretty sure you can't turn e-balance into real money, so no one is making money by selling characters or other stuff. We are talking about the fact that players who don't spend money are not limited in any way.

We are different then, the trading part and the whole economy system was fun to me and my friends. Figuring out the best trades and asking each other if this or that is worth trading and later sharing each others victory was a hell lot of fun to me.

Oh well, yes I agree with you on those. But again, I don't understand how this is a reason not to buy the game. I'm probably not very objective on this one, since I played Diablo 2 over 2000h of my life and I would still play it again. Now that I've read nearly every detail about D3 and more than 90% of those details make me hyped for this game, you'll probably see why it's hard for me to understand why people say this game is dead for them only because of a (for me) little sacrifice.

This game will probably (and hopefully) be a blast and I'm pretty sure it will stand up to it's big name, so I don't see why someone should give up on it, just because you have to be online all the time.

Yes, a cash shop for a game like this is silly in my opinion. There was nothing wrong with Diablo II. You play, have fun, and get items. But then you have, "OMG WHAT ABOUT SOJ DIABLO II ECONOMY SO DUMB". However, that's not a problem because "you don't have to" trade. This is nothing more than a cash grab by Actibliz to make more money from their players, as they take cuts from transactions. But if you want a pay2win system, that's fine I suppose. Frankly, I don't support it. Players should not receive advantages just because they paid more, even if it's a coop based game (but with PvP for the record). Just by having the ability to pay to get stronger weapons, even with it being optional, makes me weep for the current industry.

And before you bring up TF2, I'd rather not have the Mannco store.

I think my main problem with "pay for items you could find normally" is that it creates a system wherein the developer/publisher benefits more from making you pay for the items. Therefore you can end up with the game almost trying to punish you for attempting to play it normally, or having it constantly nudging you with reminders of "hey, you coooooooould pay to get this stuff, you know". An extreme example is something like Farmville, where the whole business revolves around paying to 'win'. A less extreme and more tolerable example would be Team Fortress 2, where they keep piling on crates in the hope you'll be tempted to gamble away money for what is essentially a one in one hundred chance of scoring a virtual hat.

What I'm saying is that a business model like this is a very, very slippery surface to be on. You better pray Blizzard don't get greedy.
