Hey guys,
All of the parts for my new computer are here! The 37" Westinghouse 1080p monitor came a couple days ago and it's AMAZING.. everything is super sharp and it feels like I'm in a movie theater all the time. The picture really doesn't show how huge it really is.
As for the computer parts, here's what I have:
Intel E6420 Processor
Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi-AP Edition Motherboard
G.SKILL 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 HZ @ CL 4-4-4-12
8800GTX
Western Digital 150GB Raptor X
OCZ 600W PSU
Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme CPU Heatsink w/ fan @ 110CFM
Cooler Master Centurion 5 Case
And for the pictures. First one is my corner desk. I have the Saitek Eclipse keyboard, Ratpadz GS pad and years old Microsoft IntelliMouse (5 buttons). AKG K240 headphones (for recording, but make awesome computer headphones), and my poor old 19" CRT that I'll be using for my new computer until it's all set up and ready. Second picture is all my new stuff!

I'll be busy today :D Worked almost 10 hours yesterday so I could come home early and play with my new toys. My current computer is a 3700+, 1gb RAM, X800XL that has some major heating issues (in order to play any games I have the side of the case open with a room fan blowing right into it to cool it off).
My first hope is that everything runs, next time for some fun overclocking :D

Monitor $1000, everything else $1500. I don't upgrade often so this'll be it for me for a while. The monitor is an investment because 5 years down the road when there's higher resolution monitors I'll just use it as an awesome 1080p television.

We have like twin computers now. Literally, same monitor, keyboard, graphics... Except ur desk isn't a piece of wood on two chairs... No jk, thats a bit of an exaggeration but my desk does suck.
I got Klipsch 2.0 speakers, they're fine when they're working, up until recently they were really f***** got them fixed though, just tampered around with them for a while, new soundcard might have helped. Was worknig with the stock sound card some sort of CM bunch of numbers and letters follow, got pissed off because everything went all echo-ish, just tore them outta there and bought a sound blaster xfi platinum fatality. Now everything sounds just right.
Im looking to get surround sound but my room simply too small, that and its over crowded and I play consoles/watch tv in the same room theres not much space. Headphones are some sony thing, they sound fine but they're my first set of headphones so I have no clue how they should sound.
Congratulations though, we're going to play L4D on high!!!
Just noticed, nice desktop lol. You have so many icons, I have 18 and got mine like maybe last month dont quite remember. You kept your hard drive right? Im starting completely from scratch with a 300GB hard drive. So far I have 298 free space!
P.S: Im lucky enough to live a bus ride away from a shop that makes computers (where I got mine, the owner is actually a classmates friend) and stuff, I was just wondering how long it took you to get something off newegg and didn't all come in the same day or did they just sprinkle unto your doorstep?

Newegg is always great with delivery.. usually comes in 2 days, 3 sometimes.
Well it's up and running.. everything is plugged in, just going through Windows installation. My BIOS was showing much higher temps than I should be getting (39C), so either there's a problem with detection or I'm going to have to go through the pain of reinstalling the heatsink :(

Why did you go for the E6420 over the E6600?
A very good setup, that GTX card is the dogs b0ll0cks, although with a monitor like that I'm sure it needs a card like that to keep up! What resolution does the monitor run at?

I think it runs 1920x1080p resolution natively. It can be upscaled to 20 something by 15 something. Man if its as hot here as it is where you live, should open up that case and let your fan do extra work :)

Oooooh, I'm jealous.
Wish I had a monitor like that, I think the one I currently use is as old as I am. >_>
Don't be dissing that clock, it's niiiiice. :D

Oh yeah, im pretty sure our 37" monitors are hacks in CS:S. I can see through walls at the side of my screen if I slide up on the side of one. Guess we get to see more infected too :)

The monitor is terrifying. I'm upgrading my rig after a couple more paychecks but I don't think im shelling out the cash to compete with this. My 19 inch is fine for now and I think I'll pick up a second just for kicks. Squerl's monitor brings new meaning to parents telling kids "you''ll go blind"
If you catch my drift :P

I'm typing this on my new computer.. just runnin through the benchmarks and breaking it in etc. Going good.
The great thing about widescreen resolutions is that as dontleave said it expands your horizontal view so you actually see more!

It's going real good so far. Stock speeds were running idle @ 29/31C. I overclocked it from 2.113 ghz to 3.2ghz and the temp only went up to 32/32C! Awesome cooler and it's really stable so far. Load temps are low to mid 40's right now which is great.

Yeah, maybe I have narrow vision, but at first I actually had to turn my head to get a good look at stuff, that is before I moved it a foot back.
I love the resolution, been playing C&C3, very fast game, its good to be able to see so much at once. Especially when you REALLY need it. Nowadays I've finally found a good Zombie mod server so I play that... its WhenDarknessFalls server... well thats not the name it just hast those words in it. So im sure you could find an ip after googling it. I think they have a site.
Oh yeah, I haven't overclocked anything. The dude (who put together my PC after I chose all the parts) asked me if I wanted too but I was really eager to play so I said screw it. I don't think I get much of a boost from doing so right now anyway, there's not a single game out I can't play on high. I get like 160FPS average in CS:S, lowest EVER being 80 on de_dust. It's not well optimized for HDR, considering de_train has HDR and I get considerably higher than 80
Is it just me or does the Eclipses' keys seem a bit "thick"
Rofl you can see the change he had after buying that computer on his desk, under thing drawer under the clock.

How many volts are you pumping through that thing? If it's stock voltage, I'd be really impressed.

I got my compy a few years ago, as a graduation present. I kinda wish I would been a super-senior so I coulda gotten the later tech. The new DDR memory and stuff changed right after I got it, but if I had taken longer to graduate, I probably wouldn't have been given a present!
Meh, this comp gets the job done. I'll be able to play L4D on med. That's all I really need anyway.
My cunning plan is to wait a little longer, and when prices drop further, and new tech becomes mainstream, get a really nice new comp.
That comp does look awesome. I am pretty jealous. =P
