No, seriously, there will always be competition and it makes no sense to change you intended release date too much, when you are planning long term anyways.

Looking at the games you have listed, tells me that you have no clue. Spore catters to a completely different audience, SC2 is a 2009 title and Diablo 3? Really? Don't hold you breath, because that's a few years off...

Besides, Valve can do on Steam whatever they want. There are 15 million accounts. Those are more than Xbox Live gold members. Really, people start treating Steam like another platform in itself.

Short answer: In PC Land, Valve are a big fish themself. Others should shy away from them...

Spore is in no way competition for L4D...they're completely different games to completely different markets, and they're spaced out by at least a month I believe.

And Diablo 3 and Starcraft II are in no way related to an FPS like L4D, and they're not coming out til 2009...maybe even 2010 for Diablo 3.

Starcraft 2 (RTS) = Q1/Q2 of 2009
