I'm pretty sure all of that footage is recycled from past G4 videos. It makes for a really messed up preview because the game looks completely different scene to scene. Also, the voice isn't doing much to sell the game.

Most, if not all, we've seen before. All footage from the bridge and the area around it was in a recent video in the last week or two, and all footage of the barn and cornfield (with the hunter jumping around) is quite a bit old. Boomer shots are from various old videos etc etc.

I'm not so sure about that, everytime I've seen the car alarm in-game, the survivors have been hanging around the car and not running away from it.

Its entirely possible the car has a more tactical service than simply discouraging reckless shooting.

If you look at 2:44 into the video (http://www.tomsgames.com/us/site/flash_videos/left_4_dead_e3_2008_gameplay_footage.html), my guess is that it acts much like the new pipe bomb by attracting infected to the honking, much like the new pipe bomb's beeping attracts the infected. You could use it to slip by them.

I could see it being used as a diversion via the hunting rifle.

i.e. popping a couple rounds into the car to make the alarm go off, thus luring any infected towards the car. After they begin punching and kicking, i would imagine that it would be like shooting fish in a barrel....... infected, cannibalistic fish...
