Welcome to the new forums

Hey everyone.. as much as we loved our old shoutbox (http://www.left4dead411.com/l4dshout.php) it wasn't really built for the long-term. These forums are starting off small just like all forums do. The news section is where we'll post all the news stories that make the front page and you can comment on them. This main forum is for anything at all L4D related, such as questions about the game, ideas for it, and any suggestions you have about the website.

We chose miniBB because all we needed were some simple, easy-to-use forums without unnecessary gizmos.

Whaddya guys think?

We recommend you do register, but miniBB has a nice feature so that people don't have to if they just want to make one quick comment on something. (just like shoutbox was real easy to just post one thing quickly)

I had a go at making a banner for the forum. Never used photoshop before, its my dads tool. After many times messing up, I finally managed to put something together! Have a look! I think its kind of cool for my first go ^^

Haha Atari.. there's always a chance of switching, no love for minibb? :( I'll assume you're like the rest of the world and recommend phpbb! What would that offer over this form?

Stupoider, not too bad but it'd have to be the right background color and I'm a real fan of minimalism..

Glad my feedback wasn't unwelcome :)

I'd recommend the excellent SMF (Simple Machines @ www.simplemachines.org), I wouldn't install phpbb ever again (too full of spambots)! As for what it'd offer over miniBB, I'd guess...more advanced search, reply notifications via email, search engine friendly URLs, ability to have multiple sub-categories, adsense mod, a larger community for hacks/mods/themes/support (oh, and allowing people to specify their own password at signup!).

Yeah, the password thing was implemented from advice about spambots.. I'll definitely give SMF a look when I get home.

What i would like would be avatars. It's faster to identify people via their avatars than taking the time to read the users names.

Just limit them to 50x50 pixels or something and put a size limit there to prevent spamming.
Signatures are useless IMO. They just fill the page with useless "funneh pictures"

The only criticisms I have for these boards is lack of "last post" buttons and the design isn't as clear as others in showing new post topics or stickies.

At least its nice and simple and there arent sigs that take up a whole page lol ;)
I do agree that we should have a way to tell which topics have new posts since we last logged on though. (Not counting the page that has all 3 mixed together.)
