idk if that's true i was looking at the official l4d website forums and they were talking about it. some say it was pushed back to november 17 but some other guy said it was being released november 1st in canada. may just be a rumor.... until i get a definite release date im sticking with valves november 4th release.

It is strange though, IGN, GameSpot, GameStop, and Amazon had all previously listed the release date correctly as November 4th, but all changed it to the same Nov 17th. I've never seen a retailer change a correct date to a later date before. I e-mailed Mike about it a couple days ago but haven't gotten a response back yet.

Its false.... either that is when its in retail (excluding steam) or if you preorder thats when you get it in mail, dont worry steam will have it on Nov 4th and 360 on nov 4th. It isnt delayed just thats when you get it if you pre order it.

I don't think they would delay the game for less than a month to make an entire new version of the game. Seems like it would be a hell of a lot longer than that.

Yup. If there were an Olympic medal ceremony for PC game delays, Duke Nukem would be on the top of the podium. TF2 would've been rocking a silver medal prior to release, and Daikatana would likely suck ass with bronze (though I could be wrong on that one), because John Carmack is gonna "Make You His Bitch".

L4D wouldn't even make the top 10. =)

I might be wrong, but doesn't this happen with the actual disk too? I think you cannot play the game without Steam running at all times.

Mmmm yes, wrong. If you use the disc, it should run off the disc. That's common sense on both yours, the developers, and computers part.

I have the Half Life 2 disk, and when I first built a gaming rig I tested it out without using steam. Before I even knew what Steam was. All Steam does is pack all the files into its folders and redirects the .exe files into it. And if you can't get Steam going to access those .exes, you're SOL.

Then again... maybe I'm wrong.

Edit: Wait, I am wrong, in a sense. After it's imported to Steam, that's the only way to access the game after that. Unless there's some technical way of fixing the problem I'm unaware of, you'll have to uninstall Steam, then reinstall the game.

Still, nothing wrong with a solid copy(I still prefer it). But that still won't change the fact I'll getting it Nov 4th hard copy or not.
