I'm always looking for new music especially Indie/Alternative Rock bands.

For instance I enjoy listening to Franz Ferdinand, Vampire Weekend, The Young Knives, Foals, Good Shoes. In general I enjoy bands from Europe.

Anyone have some suggestions for bands that would fit along with stuff like this?

Myspace links would be appreciated...

You can always use Pandora.com, free commercialess internet radio. How it works is you input an artist or song name and then it compiles a play list with songs or band similar to that. The sound quality is great and I have found a few cool bands of it.

Pandora.com was great until they barred everyone from outside the US. Fuckers.

Check out Arcade Fire by the way, they do some pretty interesting stuff.

For me, Indie is the scum of all music.
Thats just a generalisation

Indie music in my opinion, totally turned music from people who get things done, into people who drive vintage motorcycles and put "go green" bumper stickers on the back of their moped helmets...

I don't know if anyone noticed either, but they all look and sound exactly.the.same. Doesn't that hint towards a lame trend? Which also hints towards cashing in on such trend? Which also means that everyone and their mother are going to wear scarves, forget about actual music, and start an Indie band to get rich? Yes.

(in before hardcore punk/metal, i fucking hate it.)

Liking Indie comes right before liking Disney in all things retarded

Damn, I like Indie and Alternative stuff because the music isn't really that dark, I enjoy listening to upbeat songs that have nifty riffs and instruments. I also like the feeling that not everyone knows about some of the bands and that the media hasn't gotten to them (stupid bands you see on MTV/VH1 when they rarely play real music.)

I just don't like bands that have become mainstream or heavy, heavy stuff where they scream and bombard your eardrums with indistinguishable squeals and what not.

I don't hate metal per say: Mastodon's music is the kind I like, whatever genre you would consider it.

Any way I'm looking for new music, there are other threads for different kinds of music if you don't wanna leave a suggestion.

Brandty, seriously check out every band I posted, they are very low key, no screaming or growling, just awesome rock.

YES. YES. YES. You are my new friend.

Look up Vaeda if you want a non-popular band that sounds AMAZING, especially live. (Although in the last few weeks their songs have been in commercials and they were in the RB2 commercial)

And if you guys want a good Expunkative* band check out

My indie is pretty varied.

One is Math Rock, one is Ambient, one has Jamaican Ties,

it's all good in the 'hood yo!

People in planes sounded like another rock band... but that one song owned

I have to complain about this Hard Rock music or something like that. I know a guy who listens to 3 Doors Down, Trapt, Evanescence and that kinda shit, and when he put Trapt into his pandora search, everyone single "artist" he knew came up lol, talk about the exact same music.

Popular isn't a bad thing, its when bands let the media mess with their music, change them.

Liked most of your post tp500, that's the kind of stuff I was looking for, keep it up.
