Question For 28 Days/Weeks Zombies?

Are they like dead, but able to run zombies or are they like left 4 dead infected type where there not zombies just crazy people?

They are people who have been infected with a virus called rage, which had originally been an anti-rage drug that mutated, and it's effects reversed (This is cited in the graphic novel).

The Virus in Left 4 Dead, in particular, is a mutated strain of the rabies virus, which the symptoms are, as according to wikipedia: "In the beginning stages of rabies, the symptoms are malaise, headache, and fever, while in later stages it includes acute pain, violent movements, and the inability to swallow water. In the final stages, the patient begins to have periods of mania and lethargy, and coma. Death generally occurs due to respiratory insufficiency.

Obviously, if mutated enough, the Rabies virus could cause the violent acts to increase, and send the infected host into a violent, bloodthirsty, rage. I'm hoping that it happens.
