Alright so I got my code last night for the demo. Hurry home from school today, walk in fire up my Xbox and bam. It hit me like a ton of bricks.
1 Red Ring. Means system hardware failure, and will usually require to ship it in to Microsoft. That will take about 4-5 weeks.
So I've been waiting for this game since the teaser trailer first came out. Guess I need to wait another 4-5 FUCKING WEEKS.
Anyway. I posted here because I'm looking for any super duper ways of fixing this, besides sending it in.
THings I've tried
- Unpluged everything, then plugged it back in.
- Removed hard drive, turned it on without hard drive.
Help pl0x.

Try reading about putting your xbox in blankets to overheat.

Overheating works for only so long. The longest I've heard is a few weeks.
You could do what this guy I know does, buy a 360 (the same one as yours) from a store, switch the serial numbers, then just return it for a full refund.
And trust me, you aren't the unluckiest when it comes to this.
I know someone out there will put in the L4D game in their tray, and THEN they'll get a RROD.

I'm doing that as we speak actually, I'm gonna let it sit for like 30 minutes.
Edit: It's problem E74 or something, which means like internal heating problems fried something on the inside. Recommended fix = sending it in. D: D: D:. We all know that Microsoft sucks a big fat one when it comes to pleasing their customers and making decent products.
And I live 5 minutes away from the Microsoft world headquarters. D:<

Used a can of compressed air. When i got the system failure rings, i unplugged everything (even hard drive) and shot compressed air into anything that could be blown in, and it worked for me.

don't do anything that is going to clue M$ into thinking you messed with it after it error'd. I'd just be patient and send it in. It's bad enough you can't play the demo right now, but the longer you wait the more days or perhaps weeks you won't be able to play the real game after it's released.

actually when mine cooked it was a year ago, I bought the system second hand two years ago and it fried, so i called microsoft asking how much it would cost to have it repaired. they told me it was no problem and that i could send it in and it would be reparied for free! (they asked for the serial number on the back first) aparently the warrenty for RROD was extended three years! so i sent it in and 1 or 2 weeks later got it back. they paid for shipping to them, shipping to me and repairs. and threw in a free month of xbox live to! mabey this is a good thing for you, mabey you might get that free month and not only play L4D but play online compliments of microsoft! you would have to call them first though.

Just go ahead and send it in. All of my friends who have sent theirs in had it gone for at most a week and a half, no where near the 4-5 weeks everyone gripes about.
