force xbox 360 controller to 2p for Splitscreen

So I know how to make splitscreen work and I know that the xbox controller HAS to be player 2, but my problem is that I only have one controller and want to force it to be recognized as the 2cnd player so I can play L4D with some buddies. If you guys have any information let me know. Thanks.

The whole controller is mapped to one person so it's impossible. Nice try

don't really know what you're getting at, but if you want to map the controller as controller 2 (so it doesn't share the same controls as the keyboard), while in L4D quickly pull out the xbox USB plug and plug it into another USB port -- the light on your xbox controller should say controller 2.

Now you'll have keyboard controlling player 1. Xbox controlling player 2.

player one = mouse and keyboard
player two = controller
