Umm, excuse me, Mr. Modking!
I'd like to place a complaint.

Everyone could name an mp3 file as gamestartupx (Insert any number instead of X. You may have up to 9 different gamestartup songs, and the game will randomly pick from one every time you start the game.) and put it in the UI folder.

As such this is as far from a mod as possible.

This works for all source games BTW.

Well you would have been more respected if you would have just shared the info of how to do this with everyone else.

This way it seems like you are trying to look cool with one of the easiest things to do.

cool idea. I took a couple songs and put them in a rar file, so L4D randomly plays each of the songs. Each one is zombie-related, and I've altered the volume of each song so it fits better with the menu and it's original music.

mod-shortened abbrev for modification which is a change, doesnt have to be so dramatic

You know, by giving us these, you illegally distribute these songs, which is probably not allowed on these forums. :-/

Lol Tekken you're so negative. You could have just said, "Hey I can tell you all how to do it :D". but instead you try and to be high and mighty by giving him crap for it

oh lol, I have to try that now....

as long as you don't replace gamemenumusic1.mp3, yes. it randomly picks one of the songs to play, and there's a 1-in-5 chance it plays the original song still.

Is there a way to get that to stop looping before it finishes?

Couldn't you just mute the game and play the song yourself?

Seems overly complicated.

Braniac-I suppose you could if you constantly wanted to minimize the game every time you are on the menu and boot up your program to play music and then start the song before going back to the menu, finding a game and then having to minimize again and go close the song as the game is started.

You're right, this seems overly complicated.

You need to make sure that when you convert it to a .wav file that it is 44100 Hz, then it will work.

so let me get this straight

you find an mp3 you want to randomly play when the l4d main menu comes up, convert it to a wav, rename it gamestartup(1-9) then place it in the UI folder and it randomly will pick that wav when you start up the game?

i might be having bad luck but its not playing it

For the game startup music you leave it as an mp3, for pretty much everything else you convert it to a wav.
