Anyone wanna give it a go and see if Left 4 Dead split screen works with it?

Split screen works on PC, I think there's a thread somewhere about this.

Check the 411 Main Page Archives, it should be somewhere there.

Yes I know it works, but we're trying to get splitscreen working with two keyboards + mouses.

The teamplayer program might be the solution.

Splitscreen has been removed, so multiple keyboard/mouse input is useless to us.

but it'll be back in full game.

I doubt that it would work. that program effectively adds virtual instances of the mouse and keyboard, but I don't think that the computer treats it like a normal mouse or keyboard. This means that the computer only responds to the extra cursor when it clicks on something, and it can't take two outputs simultaneously (It probably queues them up then executes them in order). Thus, split screen wouldn't work with this because it is the program keeping track of the second mouse's coordinates, not the game it self. I'm pretty sure that all you would be able to do with this program is give the second keyboard to someone else so they can screw with your movement...

Conclusion: This program does not create two separate inputs, but instead acts as as if the person was rapidly switching between two applications and typing a letter in each after each switch.

depending on how the game is set up to receive controller input, you COULD just connect two joysticks or usb controllers and play it that way. The problem with dual mice/keyboards is the way that computers interpret the input.

EDIT:
"There are a number of tuning variables, the but tricky thing will be the controller. When testing, the best setup on the PC is to have two joystick/x360 style USB controllers. I think it will also be possible to have one keyboard/mouse and one joystick player.

I haven't looked into supporting two keyboards/mice, as I'm not even sure PC's can deal with that and I doubt we're talking about lots and lots of possible users for such a config. "

I just tried this with two mice (didn't have another keyboard) and it doesn't work. Both mice control the first player (how do you set the input for the 2nd player anyway?) and they work independently of each other as in you click with one mouse to take control. You can still move the other one around but you can't right click and if you left click it takes control away from the other one...

I bet you can use GlovePie along with PPJoy to get this to work. I can't test it though, since PPJoy doesn't seem to work with Vista x64. :-(

left 4 dead probably uses direct input which mashes the mice together, the game would have to be coded to accept multiple mice, which l4d is not. :-)
