Here's a task for someone with time, skill and motivation:
Mod the HL2 singleplayer maps from beginning to end to be compatible with Left 4 Dead. :P
Basically what has to be done is to make saferooms for the beginnings and ends of the maps or something and then small fixes or such to make the director work properly there. :) That would haul so much ass, that there's no limit to it.

Still that would be really wierd, running around in those cloths, with that First Aid, with those weapons...in the future ?
Sounds like a cool idea because i just love HL2 but i dont know if it would turn out so good that it'd cover up for the time it took to "convert" those maps.

Well, the maps are very nice in my opinion and I don't care about the fact that Half Life is set into the future. That would not be half life, it would be the maps... and no, I don't want a big and immerse story here, I just want the maps with all the nice things. :)

Sounds fair enough, as i also love those maps. Too bad i can't Mod nor create maps :(

The main challenge with modding all of the HL2 maps to being compatible with L4D is that you would have to strip out everything that was a gameplay mechanic in it. That means pickups and weapons not in L4D, obstacles that can only be overcome by the Gravity Gun, and of course enemies and NPCs.

Ravenholm and prison, ty. :)
And some of the beach bug parts. :)
Ofc the modder could use some common sense in ripping the completely useless content and so on, but there are so many good parts, that could be modded.

Now imaging that there is a safe room at the beginning of the Boat chapter, and the end.
You die in the middle, you start ALL over.

omg, this idea kicks ass!
Some maps wouldn't work well in L4D though... especially the ones that require driving around in a vehicle.
But the prison maps, ravenholm and the first few maps could be a good set of campaigns.
If no modder can do this, I really hope Valve do it for us.

If the modder removes the combine stuff from the prison one it'd make a nice map. Broken walls and such. And of course... Ravenholm fits RIGHT in. (Sans-water that is.)
