ok i made my map and it will load ingame with all the right textures and lighting and i can spawn.
but how do i place L4d specific entities? like the weapons or health kits.
and how do i get the map to spawn zombies? i can spawn them through the console and they run around find but thats not fun

yeah i saw that but it doesnt help cause hammer doesnt have them in the list so i cant add them. Also it doesnt spawn zombies and i thought the director does all of that

Never will be. That's common sense.
Did you build a navigation mesh for the ai? If not, that may be what is keeping the director from doing its thing. If you didn't, when in your map, open the console and type nav_generate. That should give you a basic working nav mesh for the bots. If you did this already, then I am not sure.
As far as entities go, it is probably best to just wait for the SDK to release. I used the vmf found here (http://www.thesaferoom.org/2008/11/making-of-house_alpha1/) and copy/pasted the weapons and first aid kits into my map.
I am wondering if you managed to extract the l4d textures from the vpk or are you using other textures?
